here we go the Russian troll farms bots, attacking the USA election as well as right-wing groups. was it both, we know this happened with no examples of massive ones done to trump... So again false equivalency that the right mlie and try to obscure the subject saying all partys do this. Well, prove it you two faced liars. showing one made yesterday by a right wing hacker is anecdotal.

People thinking Hillary was telling them to vote by text, vote the wrong day, wrong documents needed for elections. IE telling them in close states new rules to vte you have to have certain documents or you could not vote. which was a lie.

again Generally Kelly a former head of national security was fooled by a scan that hacked his phone. And he did not know it for 6 months his phone was hacked and listening in to top secret meetings for 6 months.

Anti-Clinton ads show major effort to subvert U.S. democracy

Quote:
Recently released online advertisements include a large number of ads mimicing the Clinton campaign look and style encouraging people to vote online, showing a major effort to subvert U.S. democracy through election interference.

Report: Trump commission did not find widespread voter fraud
Associated Press
MARINA VILLENEUVE
,Associated Press

Quote:
PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — The now-disbanded voting integrity commission launched by the Trump administration uncovered no evidence to support claims of widespread voter fraud, according to an analysis of administration documents released Friday.

In a letter to Vice President Mike Pence and Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, who are both Republicans and led the commission, Maine Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap said the documents show there was a "pre-ordained outcome" and that drafts of a commission report included a section on evidence of voter fraud that was "glaringly empty."

"It's calling into the darkness, looking for voter fraud," Dunlap, a Democrat, told The Associated Press. "There's no real evidence of it anywhere."

Republican President Donald Trump convened the commission to investigate the 2016 presidential election after making unsubstantiated claims that between 3 million and 5 million ballots were illegally cast. Critics, including Dunlap, reject his claims of widespread voter fraud.

The Trump administration last month complied with a court order to turn over documents from the voting integrity commission to Dunlap. The commission met just twice and has not issued a report.

Dunlap's findings received immediate pushback Friday from Kobach, who acted as vice chair of the commission while Pence served as chair.

Virginia special prosecutor to examine GOP election scheme
08/08/18 09:20 AM
By Steve Benen
Quote:
We talked yesterday about Rep. Scott Taylor’s (R) clumsy election scheme in Virginia. What we didn’t know was that the matter would soon be the subject of an investigation. The Washington Post reported overnight:

A special prosecutor was appointed Tuesday to investigate claims that aides to Rep. Scott W. Taylor (R-Va.) illegally forged signatures to help an independent candidate get on the ballot, hoping to give their boss an edge over his Democratic challenger in the midterm elections. […]

A judge granted a request from Virginia Beach Commonwealth’s Attorney Colin D. Stolle (R) to appoint the commonwealth’s attorney for Roanoke, Donald R. Caldwell, to the case.

If you’re just joining us, let’s recap what the story is all about.

In 2016, Scott Taylor easily won his first congressional campaign, dispatching Democrat Shaun Brown (D) by nearly 23 points in Virginia’s 2nd congressional district. Brown seemed eager for a 2018 rematch, but she was indicted on fraud charges, among other alleged misdeeds, and Brown and Democrats soon parted ways. She nevertheless said she intended to run for Congress again, this time as an independent.

And that’s where the story took a turn. Several members of Taylor’s campaign team decided to collect petition signatures for Brown – the congressman’s former opponent – in order to help her get on the 2018 ballot. The point of the scheme wasn’t subtle: Brown could help siphon support away from Taylor’s Democratic opponent, Elaine Luria, making it easier for the Republican to win.

At face value, this may seem like little more than electoral mischief. But it’s not that simple – because members of Taylor’s team didn’t just collect petition signatures for Brown, they’re also accused of forging petition signatures for Brown, and that’s illegal.

Indeed, as the Newport News’ Daily Press reported today, the number of allegedly forged signatures keeps going up.

For his part, the GOP congressman concedes he was aware of his staffers’ efforts to help get Brown onto the ballot, but Taylor also says he didn’t oversee the scheme and didn’t know about the alleged forgeries.

Earlier this week, the Republican congressman also called the whole story a “nothing burger.” We’ll soon see whether a special prosecutor agrees.

Postscript: For the record, Taylor, even now, insists that Brown should be on the ballot. Under the circumstances, that takes some chutzpah, but apparently the GOP lawmaker is concerned about his re-election prospects.

https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2018/08/russians-have-penetrated-floridas-election-systems-senator-says/

Russians Have Penetrated Florida’s Election Systems, Senator Says
“They have already penetrated certain counties in the state and they now have free rein to move about.”

Quote:
Intelligence officials have warned for months that Russia will seek to interfere in the 2018 midterm elections, just as it did in 2016. On Wednesday, Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson of Florida offered up perhaps the most startling example yet of these efforts: that Russian operatives had gained access to the state’s election systems.

“They have already penetrated certain counties in the state and they now have free rein to move about,” Nelson told the Tampa Bay Times on Wednesday. He added, “We were requested by the chairman and vice chairman of the Intelligence Committee to let supervisors of election in Florida know that the Russians are in their records.” Nelson is campaigning for reelection against Florida’s current governor, Republican Rick Scott.

This is one of many indications that the Russians have not been deterred from interfering in US elections. Last month, Microsoft announced that it had intercepted efforts to penetrate the campaigns of three candidates for office this year. One of the targets was Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill of Missouri, who is in a tough reelection battle.

A swing state, Florida is a prime target for election hacking. And Nelson’s race, like McCaskill’s, is closely contested and could determine which party controls the Senate next year. By sowing chaos in a few key Florida counties, the Russians could potentially throw the outcome of the Senate race, or congressional and other races in the state, in doubt. And if they retain access to the state election system in 2020, they could potentially alter the results of the presidential race—as the 2000 election showed, a presidential contest can come down to a few Florida counties.

The Kremlin also targeted Florida’s systems in 2016. Russian hackers successfully phished employees of VR Systems, a Florida-based elections services provider, according to an NSA report obtained by the Intercept. Access to the vendor allowed the hackers to attach malware to a genuine company operating manual that was then sent to 122 email addresses belonging to “local government organizations” and others in charge of the “management of voter registration systems,” including within Florida, according to the report.

According to Christopher Krebs, a senior Department of Homeland Security cybersecurity official, the Russians scanned voter registration systems and other election-related websites in every state in search of vulnerabilities as part of their 2016 operation.

Virginia Democrats Want Congressional Candidate Booted From Ballot
The party filed a lawsuit to block Shaun Brown amid an investigation into suspicious signatures collected on her behalf.

Quote:
The Virginia Democratic Party filed a lawsuit on Monday to block an independent candidate from appearing on the ballot in a congressional race.

The challenge comes amid an investigation by a special prosecutor into signatures that appear to be forged collected on behalf of Shaun Brown, a Democrat turned independent running in Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District.
