Hi Gang,
Hurricane Odile made landfall Sunday night as a Category 3 storm near Baja Sur's Cabo San Lucas with an estimated intensity of 125 mph. Initial reports of extensive damage to some resorts but no loss of life.
No reports yet from La Ventana and Los Barriles on Baja's East Cape. Initial reports have the hurricane going inland as it approached the East Cape which typically means weaker winds.
Here are reports about previous Baja Hurricanes at San Carlos, La Ventana and Los Barriles:

With the heavy rains the population of BoBo's will be high near the beaches in the mornings if you arrive very early season in Oct. or early November.

Bo Bo = small black fly that seems to enjoy being inhaled when not hanging out in a nearby ear.

Next stop after trashing La Ventana, Punta San Carlos?? I know the winds will be nothing much by then but 6" of rain would trash the road for weeks

If Odile follows the predicted path PSC will not escape. Hope it veers east I am scheduled to head down in 2 weeks.

Looks like it will be a close call... Solo posts updates on their Facebook page so that would be a good place to start.

From Andrea
This was sent by Roger Thompson. Hopefully I will have more when he returns from his ATV jaunt.
Andrea, We are fine. We have some trees down and debris all over with flooding. Last night was insane with wind gusts well over 100mph and sheets of torrential rain. We had some flooding in our house. I duct taped all our windows and sliders the braced them with furniture. No broken windows.
As far as La Ventana and the roads go, I haven't been out yet. I will take the ATV out soon and give you an update.

From Mary Sims in La Ventana:
Odile blew in for about 7 hours at hurricane force winds which did major damage to plants. Everything is still green but missing half their leaves and lots of branches. Palapas, tin roofs and electric/phone poles damaged. According to Rigo there are at least 10 poles down before the cross roads and one right here at the resort. Lines are down on the ground everywhere. He says La Paz radio says it could be ten days before we have power/phone, because of the next one coming they may not address much of it till the new one passes. We had very little rain, maybe another 3 inches but not much more rutting or erosion than from the last rain. Mary S
