Los Angeles sailors. I'm looking for suggestions on places to Stand Up Paddle in LA County. Not necessarily wave spots, although that would be fine, mostly I'm looking for advice on beaches that are nice to paddle.

Thanks.

David

I don't know much about the Redondo area. Any suggestions on where to go, Kevin?. Thanks.

And I will try the Stand Up Zone. I was just on this site, and I know a lot of the So Cal WSer's supplement their sailing with Suping.

The whole coast south of Pt Dume is good. Latigo, Carbon, and the beach just north of Latigo.

Yep...Standupzone is definitely the place to go for that question. Great bunch of guys and lots of socal members.

I actually do quite a bit of SUS (Stand Up Surfing) in the Malibu area. Lots of hidden gems to find if you paddle away from the crowds.

The places that Stevenbard mentioned are good. I think the beach he is referring to north of Latigo is Escondido Beach (just south of Geoffrey's restaurant). Just park on PCH and walk down. It's pretty flat as far as waves goes but you can launch from there and paddle up to Paradise Cove and have lunch.

If you want a mellow break to surf waves you can paddle down from there to Latigo. Lots of SUPers and good vibes at least the times I have been there. Granted, I haven't been there on a head high day so the vibe might change.

There's also Big and Small Dune but I think you might get a little attitude at both if try to SUP during a decent swell.

HTH.

Both big and little Dume are hard to get to. Little Dume access is private, or a long paddle. Big Dume has a steep and long walk, but easier to get to. Both are epic when the surf is overhead to double overhead.

If Orange County isn't too far for you- and for a little variety from the beach- I was just down there and supped in Newport Bay around a few of the islands. Lots of amazing mansions and boats of all sizes to see. There's lots of free street parking and places to enter the water on Balboa Peninsula.
