Guess Who. Some of the most beautifully finished polyester boards I have ever seen. The custom graphics were flawlessly detailed.

Ha-ha... this is GREAT Smile

How about "Gorge Technology"... awesome mast bases (a few years back Smile
I know there are guys on here, who had these!
Where is Pat D. (owner, designer, and Nukin' Gorge sailor) these days?

And I see X-booms... I don't remember those.
And then, I see Z... but there's nothing after it?
Are we talking about the famous "Z-Booms"? They were quite big for a while. Supposed to reduce carpel tunnel because of the tube geometry.

Thanks for this news (although VERY sad) about Pat Sad
I had not kept up with news of Gorge pioneers... innovators... and local Nukin' sailing stars (which he was all of these).
And I'm not surprised he was so into Moto-x racing... it fits.

What a cool website link... it sounds like he is making the best of a very bad situation. An awesome guy !!

Thanks again,
Greg -

Pat D. was a moto x'er. He suffered a significant and debilitating injury quite a few years ago while riding which rendered him paralyzed.

No. I can't remember the name of the guy that made these boards over 20 years ago, but occasionally I would run into his boards during trips to the Gorge. The last one I saw was in Bart's consignment shop around 2001 or 2002, and I almost bought it. The only reason I didn't was the fact that it was a super small board for 3.5-4.0 conditions, so it would be rarely used. As I recollect, the board was made for a woman sailor.

Holy smoke, I cannot believe I forgot about Multi-Sail. I had a "quiver" of those in the late 80s and they were pretty interesting.

Semi-early one morning after arriving at Lake Isabella in the middle of the previous night, my buddy and I woke up in the camper and saw parked right next to us:

A modestly-sized van with the following in massive lettering covering the entire side of the van:

"BIG BOARD SAILBOARD MULTI-SAIL"

My buddy and I were astonished!

After that I couldn't help but get a one-sail "quiver" of those Multi-Sails. The triple-threat: 5.0-4.4-3.8, I think mine was. Randy Reynolds was a genius!

I would add Doyle (blue colored hollow boards from the Gorge), but I would remove Lester Polyester, since his brand, Gorge Animal, is already on the list.

AND... was there a company named "X booms"?
Maybe there was, I don't recall that one, but I'd believe it, if others know.

But there was the "Z-Boom" company. I had many friends with them... and tried 'em out myself, but never bought one. More than one shop here sold them.

From the archives:
Here is a Bic Sport ad from France, circia 1998.

Not sure what to think of this.
