Anyone have experience with Chinook masts? The price is alluring. Where are they made, are they wound? :p |

I actually won one in Baja last year. The mast is really good and if I were to buy a new mast, and the bend worked with my sail, I would definitely buy it. Some people like the no limitz as well. Mine is a 400 rdm. |

I've used both the Chinook RDM 460 60% carbon and 90% carbon. They definitely feel heavier than most rdms on land but they seem to do the job with my Ezzy, Hot Sails Maui, and KA sails. They seem to be pretty durable too!

A few weeks ago i replaced a 430 North Sails regular with the Chinook and so far so good. i like the ease of rigging and have come to understand that skinnies are stronger. i sail in the middle of SF Bay and after a recent boom failure started obsessing about the mast. And i couldn't pass up the price - in the sub $300 range so it seemed like cheap insurance. |

I have three Chinook RDM masts: 430 carbon 90, 400 carbon 90, & 370 carbon 60. I use them on my Sailworks Revolution quiver (4.0 - 6.2). I really like them. They definitely are heavier than the Powerex RDM masts I was uing last year, but I do not notice that on the water. I think they are unquestionably the best mast for the buck you'll find.....period.
I love mine, BTW! Five stars! _________________ Kansas City |

Not everyone sails RDMs. My personal experience with them is they are bomb-proof but I don't like the bend or curve characteristics.
Broken several wound SDMs but never broken a pre-preg SDM. Chinook are pre-preg. Guess I'll have to try one myself. |
