almost 20 year vet at arenal here. leslie is right: rarely have i seen a happy couple on the ticowind beach when one is a non-windsurfer. i never understood it, because the arenal area is awesomeness on steroids.
that said, i think arenal is STILL the best destination. because you are GUARANTEED wind at arenal. not like baja, where it goes long, long stretches without wind. hence you can grab a day or two where you sail ALL DAY LONG (!) and then head down to the coast, just before the marriage implodes.
NOTHING beats arenal! (except The Wiz. or maybe Crazy Eddie. he's insane.) |

several over 20 years is not many
Baja is a great place for the non wind spouse and gets better every year regardless of what the people who haven't been in years say
come on down !

not to nit-pick, but actually, several over 20 years really is many. you have to remember the size of the sample set, which is then extrapolated. if i've been skunked several times with a 10 day sample set over 20 years, then extrapolated the wind is actually more fluky, rather than less. |

October 20th and first Norte is here. we have had thermal winds for the past week and now the first Norte from a 4 corners high is here.
I guess we are getting the early "skunk" |

hey vbr1: this is a post about non-windsurfers at arenal. not a tet-a-tet about venues. if you want to compare the wind in arenal to the wind in baja, i'm happy to chime in on an appropriately themed thread. |

Hello Mr tizzle,
In looking at the title of this post I think I read something different than "non- windsurfers at Arenal".
Am I reading this incorrectly ? |
