|
|
Hi All,
Does anyone know of any gear storage options near crissy field?
I'm going to start sailing out of crissy and my main mode of transportation inside the city is by bicycle. I work downtown and it would be awesome if i could bike straight to crissy and pick up my gear on the way. I'm thinking of setting up a bike trailer with everything i need on it.
I remember there being a post about some sort of storage container but it looks like it never materialized. Are there any other options?
Thanks! |

Nothing there, Unfortunately. Crissy is a world-class sailing destination; it is a shame that there is no storage and rental concession at the beach. There is a snack bar and visitor's center but nothing for the wind boarder and kayak SUP crowd. I think the boarding community should petition the NPS and Presidio Trust to allow it (put it out to bid). |

We have tried. The problem is that the Presidio Trust's number one priority is to maximize their assets . The rent for the run down buildings nearby is ridiculously high and could never make any economic sense for our small community. A couple of guys set up a bike trailers last year for days when the America's Cup restricted parking down there and they are still doing it this season so go for it! |

What if someone had a box truck with lockers on the outside, and parked the truck at crissy for the day, then somewhere else at night? You could rent out the lockers to anyone wanting to have access to their gear. |

Nice idea, but you would have to apply for a business license, a park issued permit, then carry insurance against claims for lost and damaged gear.
Plus your normal registration and auto insurance. |

I always see an old black Saab filled to the brim with windsurfing gear parked next to the buildings across the street from Crissy. Are you allowed to park there overnight or for extended periods of time (minus street cleaning etc...). _________________ _____/)_____

Larry Russo's Saab, topped with gear for hot chicks who show up at Crissy.
He doesn't care about the gear or the Saab, and most Ranger's know of his car and that nobody sleeps inside it, except on occasion. |
