Hi Gang,

Yesterday Southern California got the promised NW wind but the Bay Area saw the NW wind begin to ramp up and then fade away without ever reaching the promised forecast levels at many sites.

Why? Compare the top video of today's Southerly storm winds and the North Pacific High's NW winds with the video of the same critters in yesterday's video.

Notice how yesterday there were southerly storm winds north of the Bay Area and NW wind south of the Bay Area. All available data said that the NW wind would BRIEFLY reach the Bay Area before being shoved southward.

But what actually happened is that the storm sped up and that dead area you see between the southerly and NW wind in the Todays video came over the Bay Area. This meant that we only received the SW thermal wind and no NW wind to jazz up the coast, Crissy and Peninsula.

Looking at Today's image can you see why days ago I said San Carlos Baja would be a good bet and why Southern California will be lighter today?

So what happened? Other than a brief burst at Berkley and TI, I saw no sailable numbers. Wanted to go. Ready to go. But, no blow.

Wind in Berkeley, up to Treasure Island, was excellent yesterday. A bit north, but pretty steady.

Yes, I saw that but without the NW flow most of the Bay Area especially south of Treasure Island was weak. When the wind switches from overall NW flow to overall SW flow there is a period when the wind aloft are West which Berkeley loves since it jazzes up the surface wind at there since there is no topography to the west of Berkeley for a long way.
