Hey Gang!

Wow! I think after the recent forum posts we need some content that requires brain action above the medulla. So for a bit of mild cognitive stimulation click on this blog link:

Then study the imagery and the video as the North Pacific High prepares to abandon Northern California.

Now think about NW clearing wind and the fate of this storm system. And why am I being so vague about the forecast Wednesday and Thursday? And why you should go to San Carlos Baja Tuesday.

I've been seeing that too. But tomorrow would be a good day to go the PSC. There is a nice S swell and the wind looks good. Add a low latitude 290 degree overhead swell arriving on Wednesday and Thursday, and it could be mast high 4.5 conditions for the week!

Hi Mike,

Thanks again for spending time on these educational blogs. I really enjoy them.

Here's my amateur forecasting guess: There might be another storm system on the way for the weekend. So, the NPH might not have time to come back up the Coast after it's Tuesday trip to PSC. The winds would stay weak south or southwest between the two Lows.

Hi Prevett,

I am not forecasting today so my realtime knowledge is a day behind but the most recent imagery, which you can see below, shows that the the storm has broken into a group of 3 separate low pressure areas with counter-clockwise spinning winds.

This tends to slow down the passage of the storm over the west coast. And until that happens the North Pacific High probably will not produce winds north of Santa Cruz.
