Has anybody been to Aruba since the new Ritz Carlton opened (I believe November 2013)? How was the sailing?

All I can find is what Vela put up on their website:

Quote:
Before you make your plans to visit Vela Auba, you should know that Aruba is in the process of getting a new mega resort (a Ritz Carlton resort) being built right now, which is in the final stages of construction. On Aruba, the resorts run basically south to north. Our center is located at the Aruba Marriott Resort. This was the last resort in a long line of resorts on Palm Beach. Now, the newly constructed new Ritz Carlton lies just north of the Marriott, home of the Vela Center, and there are some affects from this you need to be aware of;

- Ritz development and location behind the center, causing a wind shadow and a 5-minute walk (in beautiful 80 degree crystal clear water with sandy bottom) out to the wind-line, where Vela has a floating water-cooler known as the "Oasis".

- Feedback from guests over the past year has ensured people are generally less impacted than they are expecting prior to arriving in Aruba;

- Our staff is eager to help everyone to get in and out of the water with their gear (when requested) and to maybe even have assistance out to the wind-line / "Oasis" area;

- Sailing further north towards the shipwreck can be a lot of fun, and we invite guests to request advice on how to get there / what to look out for ... maybe even ride with a Vela staff on break;

- Future plans include a new center with a portion of the fleet North past the Ritz development with direct access to the wind from the beach. Until this new center is built, a temporary storage area is now available to serve as a "sail change station" so that you can quickly exchange fully rigged sails at the shore just North of the wind shadow.
