I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself - Gary, age 51 living in Annapolis, MD. WS'g since about '93 but not much the past few years. I'm planning to get back out there this spring - mayo, Beverly, dewey, assateaque, frisco, etc.

Know me? sail these spots or others around town??

anyway - looks like a great forum - THANKS!

Gary ... Welcome, well, home. Yeah, this a great place to get re-connected with windsurfing's devoted fans and hear where/when folks are heading out. I'm west of DC, so regularly hit some of the Potomac sites (Mason Neck State Park when the wind is from the West, Leesylvania State Park when wind is from the South or North). If you have made it to any of these locations, we might have crossed paths. When I have a bit more time, I like Sandy Point State Park (for N and S winds), which is another close launch for you.

I'm out until I see the water back to >50 degrees, but will post my intentions in this forum.

You might also check the BABA site for events they host: http://www.windsurfbaba.org/ I missed a great opportunity to join them at Mayo this past fall.

In this area, the thing that significantly increased the number of times I was on the water is a 4/3 full wetsuit. If you have one ... maybe we'll see you out this spring ... if not, we'll see you in the summer.

Welcome back
Used to sail Kent Island and Point Lookout....spend my weekends on the OBX run....then I moved warmer, then got my ticket pulled and ended up too far north

thanks guys - I've ws'd kent island a lot in the past for nw winds - qa marina, km marina, terrapins, private residence at love pt. hopefully, qa marina is available now? if not, it will be the long haul at terrapins I guess.

I just got back fr key largo. it was family getaway, no ws. but the breeze was 15+ f/the 2 days I was there. saw one guy out ws'g, not far from jcsp and couple cars w/boards on the roof while on the roads. also saw a bunch of kiters at a pass between keys (not sure key names) when I drove south.

I'm set w/wetsuits etc f/local action but not planning to go out till mid apr warm water - a 'little' out of practice I'm sure Smile hopefully i'll be ready for surf at assateaque by mid summer. also planning a camping trip to frisco woods. slub-time Smile I'm still friends with Annapolis local ws'r I met there 20 years ago!

Glad to hear you caught some FL action. I usually take a southern vacation for some mid-winter sessions, but I skipped this year to take the family skiing. That's maybe why this winter seems infinitely long. Here's looking forward to spring. Some other DC folks start following this forum when spring approaches.

I haven't checked the Chesapeake, but the Potomac water temperature has been rising 1.5 degrees per day. Another week at that pace and things could get interesting. Maybe time to starting dusting off the equipment ... In hope.
