And to be clear, I am not sticking up for Mr. Perkins for any reason other than his right to buy whatever he wants with HIS money.
I say this because Mac will be right back with an assay on what an a-hole he is. |

To be fair I don't think Mac was saying all rich are a-holes but referring to Perkins given he and his opinion were the original topic of this thread. My comment is aimed more at prejudice I find towards people simply based upon their wealth. I know far too many wealthy self made people that I find that prejudice offensive against such people. |

You may be correct, but I just don't understand why a rich guy gets dumped on because he buys expensive things. It would be very hard to find a billionaire that hasn't been extravagant. Again, extravagance is a matter of perspective.
I think mrgybes post nailed it too. |

Since were on the subject of Venture Capital. Tesla is at $257, today, and WhatsApp was snagged for $19 B last week. I'm sure glad Elon Musk, and the kids at WhatsApp aren't in tune with the Right's meme of "its impossible to start a small business these days". Or all the biotechs that are being bought for billions, almost daily. |

The start of the thread--lost on the mrgybes of the world, was:
Quote: | Hey, any of you conservatives think Tom Perkins is making any sense. Virtually, "you pay a million dollars in taxes, and you should get a million votes." Only taxpayers should get to vote. |
In fact, the outsized political influence of the Tom Perkins' of the world is what has led to the cutting of their taxes and their accumulation of virtually all of the financial gains in the last 5 years. There are a number of telling critiques that point out that the current system of capitalism in this country has broken faith with the working class because they are not using their profits to create jobs. This is not an attack on capitalism, but an attack on greedy behavior--such as buying a watch that would be how many times the annual income of someone making minimum wage?
The Pavlovian response to those who pillory his greed and cluelessness? Obama killed the jobs, Mac is envious. Such brilliant analysis--I am humbled by your insight! |

The lunch that Obama ate yesterday, at taxpayers' expense, is worth $0 today. So what?
Plenty of O-hate to spread around.
How many taxpayer dollars did Dubya spend on his mindless vacations?

People buying crap they can't afford on their credit cards doesn't bother me ... until they expect taxpayers to give them one red cent of bailout. They have a right to choose to be broke, as long as it doesn't impact people with the sense to live within their means. Unfortunately, the Democrats prey on them as voters to be bought with others' money, thus promoting, often even guaranteeing, their permanent dependency and blight. |

Did I ever say taxes were too low on the rich? That wasn't the topic, but you frequently twist topics toward YOUR rants which seems to be the norm.
reinerehlers nailed it. It isn't any of your freeking business if a guy worth 8 billion buys an expensive watch. I guess your socialist, jealous side is showing.
Are all rich folks "assholes", or just the ones buying expensive watches? |
It is open game when he is a waco rabid from Fox (again fox that is oened by another waco right wing ruppy who made his money in sleaze, and has his reporters trying to get the phone numbers of 911 victims so he can crack their passwords and steal their private conversations) who thinks is god of america another Donald Trump you gots.
his nazi and similar treatment of jews vs amercans wanting the rich to actually not take the ball and run, to actually pay taxes ... again if he was correct the USA would be doing great, but as shown the upper 1 percent wealth vs everyone elses has sky rocketed in the past 30 or so years and the average and poor new wealth had dropped and plummeted. so he is just a moron.
By any chance was that watch made in america? again he is the one in fox board and he is the one sending the money out of the country. _________________ when good people stay silent the right wing are the only ones heard. |

Impressive for sure Boggs. However, I still have guys waiting in line for minimum wage type work who used to make 3 times that. Why? Whatever the reason, things need to change. |
