Anyone else sick of the stubby nosed boards (100liters, 245). I can't put my finger on it but they don't seem as user friendly. The boxy center sections lack sensitivity. Too bouncy in turns.

Never did like them in chop, big gusts, high-speed slashing in said gusts and chop, etc. IOW ... i.e., how and where I sail. They have their strengths, but their weaknesses lie smack in my chosen regime, If I could just access their superior planing power without messin' up what I prefer and demand about their traditional predecessors, I'd be makin' some changes. Until then ... unh, unh.

Naw, love 'em.
Have a starboard isonic 97, 235 cm faster than the old shapes, jibes better, kind of jibes like my quad wave boards
same with the 107

Board companies need to make money to stay in business.
Shorter was the new thing, down to 217 or so, so it attracts your eyes.
And of course, personal preference.
Wide and ultra short is good for powered up light wind sailing.
For most wind range, maybe moderate length and moderate width.

Last year I replaced JP X-Cite Ride 105 (256x63.5) with (newer) Exocet Cross 104 (245x63.) Surprisingly, Cross is more stable sub-planing, whether tacking, saving a jibe or even schlogging back to shore. Could be the more-even volume distribution, IMO. Also, jibe entry is autopilot stuff, no matter how fumble footed. (Exits, unfortunately, are still not guaranteed.)

The only downside I see is Tacking is much harder.
And some other stuff where you have to go around the nose
footwork and sail work has to be ultra precise.

245cm long is hardly what I call a stubbie, its actually rather long.

You cant judge a boards persuasion by 100L and length , width, rails rocker and like said above bottom shape.

this is one of the shorter boards , you may note is 87L, not close to 100L

Black Box 87 by Starboard:

o o 87 215 62 43.2 12.2 Flat Vee to Double Concave to Mono Concave 1 2 x MB Twinzer 15.5 + MB Twinzer 12 US Box + 2 x SlotBox 10 12 - 16 5.0 - 6.0 6.23 6.37

OR the Simmer Frugal in 99l at 216cm long , very specialist boards both

66 210 55 2 x BT130 + 2 x BT110 5 x slot box 3.4-5.0
77 210 56.5 2 x BT130 + 2 x BT110 5 x slot box 3.7-5.3
88 214 59.8 2 x BT140 + 2 x BT110 5 x slot box 4.2-5.6
99 216 62.5 2 x BT150 + 2 x BT120 5 x slot box 4.7-5.9

If you are over 6'3" like I am, the shorter styles just don't work. Exocet and Goya both have larger size boards in the 235cm range. They work fine for me. Both the Exocet xwave 101 and 111 are 235cm, and the Goya 118 quad is 237cm.....Considered very long for wave boards today.

I am taller, 6'1. I sail mostly in heavy chop. Coyote, Oyster Point and Delta. I just don't like all the volume under my feet. Too wide is brutal in chop, too short; well there's the volume again. Jibing is awesome for sure. Short boards crank. Not only that the first time I tried to jibe my Global FreeRide I kicked the mast base breaking two toes.
