Witchcraft have done tests, I am not qualified to either interpret the findings or discuss on a hydro engineer level, how fins work in conjunction with toe in, or separate FWIW, I have a vision of whats going on under the water or above in some cases
My Witchy is a 2010 88l Series I Chakra, it is fully 2 years plus ahead of Cobra boards in this area, The toe in is 1.5, the fins as supplied are asymmetrical, very mild . My 2nd set of fins have quite a lot more sophistication on the inside foils and twist, and more toe in the bases
The newer Witchcraft boards have more toe and even more space age applications.
While I like to read the talk, I walk the talk. I have converted NINE boards to either a tri fin or quad, all have toe in. One board a existing twin , has none on the rear, otherwise rear toe in as well. ONE board a full quad did not feel correct, numerous changes to fins had no noticeable effect, compared to the others I consider it not a success, I removed and placed the boxes in a more windsurf board quad placement( rather than a surf true quad , all fins close to the rail), which is twin with forward sides/ canards or twinster placement, it works fine now.
The first considerations are what box will be utilized then the fins can be chosen , with symmetrical or asymmetrical foils, box placement with toe in are all about fin foil .
I have ridden Tabous with no toe 50/50 foiled fins and they perform at an acceptable level. Much like bias tires did before radials. Perhaps a large reflection but accurate to a degree, especially when you only know one.
This simple phrase makes sense to me, if its your ticket or ride or not is up to the rider, readers aside.
Toe-in causes the water to pressure the outside of the fins, which in turn makes the board more responsive to rider input.
If I never turned the board ..... well never thought about that.. cause it dont happen _________________ K4 fins
