Don't know why they went ahead with the mavericks contest for Friday?? They are still forecasting strong south winds for Friday which will ruin the event.. Hopefully not..The surf should be epic..

Oftentimes, NE winds here in the BayArea makes for light S to SW winds at Mavs, the favored wind direction.
Nobody wants offshore winds at Mavs, as the dropin is much too difficult going against the wind. A light onshore is best, and waves moving in at that speed still causes spray to blow off the top, even if the onshore breeze is as much as 6 mph.
