...now with front footstraps and Suck-Hole Technology.
Basically, I'm real pleased with how all the mods to my Angulo Surfa 10'4" turned out, and I made a blog post showing the final creation on display and in action. First video in the post is just regular shortboard wavesailing, but in the second one I'm on the modified Angulo.

Many thanks to the folks on this forum who gave me advice on how to do this, and to Josh Angulo, who sold me the board and who first started me down this crazy modifying path when he helped me put a dagger fin slot in it. With all the holes I cut in it I got to see the construction in detail, and it's impressive- Stiff light wood and high density foam in all the places where strength is needed, and just the right amount of lightweight eps foam and glass in the all the other places. How well the board is working for me now is really related more to how good a shape and construction it was to start with than to the mods I did. _________________ James' Blog: Windsurfing Equipment Size Calculator

really love the project, will look to do something like this if I can find the right cast-off donor-board.
Why did you choose the notched step-down for the rails (as opposed to smooth transition of Konas)? Why such soft/subtle wingers? I would think no wingers or more pronounced ones. Not gonna ask why the suck hole - because gotta have a suck hole. |

looks like a great time. how side shore was it? i saw some backside pops one could have gotten, perhaps? i wasn't there to know if they were doable, but looked like fun. great job with the project and the coverage.
had some pretty juicy conditions on saturday in particular up here. missed a really perfect side off on friday due to my puritanical work ethic. the wind turned full west, just as i was turning way back to the home break.... _________________ www.aerotechsails.com

@jamieinnyc- I chose to notch-in the bottom layer to make a cleaner release and so I could preserve the original rail shape of the board for a greater portion of the tail section, rather than having to make them increasingly thick and blocky. The subtle/soft wingers on the original SUP part came that way- I only modified the bottom layer.
@jingebritsen- It was just slightly more sideshore than onshore. I'm not sure I know how to do a backside pop or even exactly what that is. Is that like getting an aerial off a section when you're sailing backside? Can you post a link or an explanation? _________________ James' Blog: Windsurfing Equipment Size Calculator
