Ford is discontinuing the venerable "Loaf-A-Bread" body style in 2015, and releasing a new Sprinter-type van. Can't wait to get mine! "Fluffy"s been great, but she does have over 260,000 miles on her.

Its innovative, seems similar to the Dodge Sprinter that has been out since what 2003 with a DIESEL engine.

i've got my eye on one too. my business keeps expanding, and i've got to get one large enough for carrying some WS gear below a false floor, yet still carry a tone of merchandise. the largest of these style vans are too cumbersome for intra-city parking and op's, but i do need a taller and slightly longer one than my current sprinter. parts ought to cost less, and my local dealer is a better alt than the mercedes people 50 miles away....

or, there is the Ram (Chrysler-Fiat) Promaster, which is in showrooms now. It's a bit different, has front wheel drive (it's a redesigned Fiat). all these eurovans are now seem to be taking over the USA.

Dodge doesn't provide any real data on Promaster - no cargo compartment dimensions, no MPG. Diesel still unavailable.

i test drove the dodge/fiat. it is pretty nice. it has a lower center of gravity, since it does not have to make space for the drive shaft. i still want the ford though. either will have diesel available early to mid year 2014. my local chrysler dealer is a joke compared to my ford dealer is part of my choice....

Just Googling some facts on the new engine. The 3.7 liter V-6 will have more power & torque than my 17-year-old technology 5.4 liter V-8, and it gets 31 mpg highway in the Mustang! The Mustang is, of course, lighter and has a MUCH more aerodynamic shape, so I'm guessing 25+ on the highway for the van, WooHoo! Sure beats the 13 I'm currently getting!

Actually I've been paying attention to those new Ford vans as well. I'm currently driving a '98 E150 that has the V6 engine that I love, but they quit making those (I'm still getting about 21 mpg) and it has all the power that I've ever needed, easy to pass slower cars and trucks. That's one big reason that I haven't replaced my van yet, I've had V8s before and felt it was a waste, and I don't tow anything anymore. But now that V6 is back, a modern version, that 3.7 liter, and I feel it will be even better than the old original V6.
So for me it's going to be the 3.7 LT. all the way, I have no reason for the bigger engine, and can't ever imagine needing it.
