Thanks, capetonian, maybe I'll let you try her at Leo sometime!

Spennie,
That board looks impressive. Who's design is it? Yours or Nelson's, or a combo. of the two?

Combo is correct. I'm not foolish enough to try this solo, I needed the help of the world's best shaper! I made a few sketches of my concept, then Mark would send me a CAD drawing, then I would ask for changes, then another drawing, etc. about 6 or 8 times until it was just how I wanted it. He started with his regular 90-liter "Blaster" shape,(awesome board, BTW!) then drew another outline outside of it that blended perfectly with the Blaster. Look at that last photo, you can see his Blaster outline is the "inner" board. He couldn't figure out how to trick his CNC machine into making the wings stop 40 cm. short of the tail, so he let it cut a full second outline & sawed them off by hand.
I could go on all day, but I'm going to make a mini-documentary about the process after I get the board & try it, & post it on my website. Be a few weeks.

"The winger is a variation on an old concept, one I used when I used to shape my own kneeboards in the early 70's."
Did you ever have a chance to sit down and talk with George Greenough?

swchandler: I wish! George is the reason I became a kneeboarder, and is one of my heros. Almost tried to build myself a "flex-spoon" back then, but didn't have the technology or the money to try. I saw him kneeboarding at County Line once back then, he totally ripped!(duh!)
George Greenough is/was a great innovator in windsurfing, although I know very little about it. I'm told he invented the "Z-boom", and used to make his own masts around a cable strung between two trees. By the billabong, I would assume.
I don't suppose anyone knows if there's a book about him? Autobiography?

the board to me looks like it crys for a multi fin setup, I would place the forwards in the vicinity of the winger ends (NO M.Nelson here)
did it come up as a consideration ? curious
Mark has some great twins under his designer label
