may try Chapin beach for the first time based on Sundays forecast with North winds. Is it a flat water area like Kalmus beach or do the waves get large? Is it pretty well marked where to park?
Does high/low tide matter that much?
thanks |

I don't to put words in OC's mouth; but I he forgot "big" after pretty - at high tide, compared to Kalmus |

chapin faces nw so you are sailing along the beach on a nw. this is doable with just mod. chop about 2 hrs either side of high tide in moderate winds, shorebreak gets tougher as it gets windy. runs out of water fast. low tide is quarter mile out and this point works as a sandbar for breaking windswell in ne winds. tidal current can be significant, be aware. this is now kite central, there were 75+ kiters out last good day. |

Ron, how do you like Skaket in N-NNW, high 20s? I've sailed it only in NW. |

You're right
If it's an afternoon wind, the tide will be an issue!

thanks for the info, looks like i'm going to bag it though, a little too much wind for me and looks like the rain will continue further into the day than i'd like. |

Strongest winds predicted around 10 am, with a moderate drop - we'll probably be at Skaket tomorrow morning. Hope to see you, Ron! |
