Can anyone match the beauty of this Hi-Tech can opener circa 1985? In my youth it worked PSC, Jalama and County line. I am the second owner and got it in about '86.

I have never seen anything like that. What was the theory behind the design?

If your waves all break in the same direction it was supposed give you a turning advantage on one side.
Assymmetrical design is not dead. There are recent customs that try out this idea.

Classic "Topper" can-opener ... sailed many times at PSC...

Amazing how design has advanced - in a good way.

There is an asymmetric board for sale on Craigslist in Maui.
It was shaped by Greene for Graham Ezzy in 2005.

Oldest FAST board I still have, and I have over 30 old boards, is the 1994 Kinetic Slalom 273 shaped by JeanBoldois and made in Taiwan.
It is competitive in speed and jibing with any current slalom board from any company, in winds of 19-25 mph with a 6.0 slalom sail. Lulls do kill it's acceleration, so it's not competitive today.

..and probably, my first ever true custom board, a TeamSeatend 1986 9' x 23" wide with a 39cm tail OFO, 13 lbs styro sandwich board would still be competitive today in medium wind slalom at ANY level, including pro level.
And yes, it did fold up within 2 months, as Randy told me to jump it, as I was on the development team recruited my Mel and DannyNorth.

Actually, whitevan01, it's about "museum pieces", but if you want to see a beautiful board.....

OK, OK, I know, it's the last picture of it I'll post..............for now.
