From the park service website:
"Parking lots will be closed at Crissy Field north of Mason Street, including East Beach and West Bluff"
However, the webcam seems to show some vehicles in the parking lot. Anyone tried to sail there since Tuesday 10/1? |

It is closed-no access. Essential personnel (the rangers) are keeping people out. I believe the issue is maintenance (toilets and trash) and concerns that the place would get really messy in what will likely be a protracted government shutdown. I am glad they at least had the decency to wait till the end of the windsurfing season. There are fortunately other places to sail including launching from the little beach to the west of the St Francis YC. |

yes, it is heartening to know that they did wait until the bulk of the windsurfing season was over @ Crissy.
They must have been listening to John Kerry: the only active iWindsurf member in the overall D.C. / Congressional brotherhood (that we know of).
In fact, a lot more of those other clowns should follow John Kerry's lead more often. |

Not so good for BIB, I suppose.

From that photo, I can see lots of typical government waste:
1. Boom too low = low mast foot pressure = poor early planing and loss of speed;
2. Uptight grimace and clenched grip on boom = loss of efficient sail trim = loss of speed;
3. Low stance and bent knees = loss of speed;
4. Expensive sail not properly rigged = obvious socialist agenda = government shutdown. |

Yes, thank the "Tea Party", that is the right wind nuts that do not think twice about shutting down the government to fight a law that was originally proposed by that radical socialist Mitt Romney.
Loosing Crissy is a bit less of a problem than 800,000 people going without salary ... but just wait until the next shoe drops ... default is around the corner. |

By mentioning socialism, you have interjected politics too ! I remember the BUSH campaign castigating KERRY for windsurfing/kite boarding as an elitist hobby. http://www.nytimes.com/2004/09/05/weekinreview/05bigp.html
