Just got off the water and the meter at Rooster Rock showed avg 9. The 90 degree wind had to be averaging 20-25 with gusts easily over 30. I'd say the meter reads less than half the real windspeed.

The sensor maintenance team is aware of this situation and has already shipped some equipment to upgrade the sensor. We hope to have it reporting properly before the main easterly wind season kicks in.

Sorry about the problems with Rooster Rock. Our sensor technician replaced the damaged anemometer with a new and improved RM Young anemometer. Unfortunately, we're having communications problems due to the antiquated nearby cell towers. Our modern cell transmitter can't communicate regularly with the poor signal it gets from the more distant 3G towers. We are working on a fix that will allow the modern cell transmitter to "talk" to the older nearby towers. Sorry about this.
