For you it's all about racism (NFL), no surprise, for me it's been all about the flag.

Of course it is not about the flag--but that is what the talking points you've consumed told you. I so appreciate your empathy for those who incur brain damage for your amusement, and apparently give up some of their rights in the process.

The display of patriotism at the start of the NFL games is in fact a marketing ploy by the US military.

Quote:
Teams in the five major American sports leagues have taken in more than $10 million in marketing deals with the military since 2012, but the Department of Defense (DOD) can't account for all of the contracts, much less the money.

The fact that teams like the New York Jets had taken military money to honor hometown troops was revealed this spring, but a report released Wednesday shows that the spending was much larger and much more widespread than originally believed.

In all, the DOD spent $10.4 million on marketing contracts with teams in the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL and MLS. This does not count sponsorships in NASCAR, which could total as much as $100 million.

All well known before Kaepernick took a knee. But then you aren't all that well informed. When Breitbart says jump, do you ask how high?

Wow, that's all very conspiratorial, and touted by hiphopwired, is that like the bankrupt Rolling Stone? BTW, I don't read Breitbart, don't have to, my opinions are far more widespread than just in Breitbart, but you wouldn't know that while sticking w/in your liberal bubble.
But sticking with a conspiratorial approach, which you like to do, why not take it one step farther, lets see, who was the commander in chief of the evil military in "2012" when this all supposedly started?

One more point, of course everyone has the right to protest, and yes this country was founded on protest, my only question is why does it have to be during the National Anthem? The timing seriously muddles the message to the point that it becomes lost.
I took a knee yesterday, to change the channel, I need new batteries for my remote.

There's always more to the story. From Snopes:

Quote:
The practice of “paid patriotism” came to light on 30 April 2015, when Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) released a statement chiding the New Jersey Army National Guard for paying between $97,000 and $115,000 to the New York Jets for a series of promotions involving military personnel. That November, Flake and fellow Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain issued a report stating that the Defense Department had been paying for patriotic displays in football and other sports between 2011 and 2014:

Contrary to the public statements made by DOD and the NFL, the majority of the contracts — 72 of the 122 contracts we analyzed — clearly show that DOD paid for patriotic tributes at professional football, baseball, basketball, hockey, and soccer games. These paid tributes included on-field color guard, enlistment and reenlistment ceremonies, performances of the national anthem, full-field flag details, ceremonial first pitches͕ and puck drops. The National Guard paid teams for the “opportunity” to sponsor military appreciation nights and to recognize its birthday. It paid the Buffalo Bills to sponsor its Salute to the Service game. DOD even paid teams for the “opportunity” to perform surprise welcome home promotions for troops returning from deployments and to recognize wounded warriors. While well intentioned, we wonder just how many of these displays included a disclaimer that these events were in fact sponsored by the DOD at taxpayer expense. Even with that disclosure, it is hard to understand how a team accepting taxpayer funds to sponsor a military appreciation game, or to recognize wounded warriors or returning troops, can be construed as anything other than paid patriotism.

However, this report did not cover the year 2009, so it is unclear whether NFL teams’ appearing on the field for the playing of the national anthem truly began in conjunction with the “paid patriotism” policy. We have contacted both Sen. Flake and the NFL regarding this issue but have not received any responses.

There was one player from the Pittsburg Steelers, Alejandro Villanueva, who left the rest of his team in the locker room so he could go out onto the field and stand for the National Anthem, and he's a vet., he didn't take a knee, he took a spine. His stand did not go unnoticed.

Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman Alejandro Villanueva became the best-selling player in the NFL by midday Monday.
A spokesman for Fanatics, which runs the NFL's online store, confirmed to ESPN that, over the past 24 hours, more Villanueva gear, including jerseys and name and number T-shirts, has been ordered than that of any other NFL player.
Villanueva beat out New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady for the top spot. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers rounded out the top five over the past day.
Both the NFL Shop and Fanatics websites had Villanueva jerseys and T-shirts in men's and women's sizes.
A former Army Ranger who earned a Bronze Star and served three tours in Afghanistan, Villanueva was the only Steelers player who came outside the tunnel during Sunday's national anthem, after the team collectively decided not to be on the sideline during the song. Pictures and video of Villanueva standing, with his hand on his heart, filled social media networks.

"I don't know if the most effective way is to sit down during the national anthem with a country that's providing you freedom, providing you $16 million a year ... when there are black minorities that are dying in Iraq and Afghanistan for less than $20,000 a year," Villanueva told ESPN last year, when San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick first started kneeling.
Roughly 180 players didn't stand for the national anthem Sunday. Three teams -- the Steelers, Tennessee Titans and Seattle Seahawks -- didn't come to the sideline for the song.

Just as much as the National Anthem, neither should be infringed upon.

yes , or no...simple question...There is no mention of the national anthem, a song , in the Constitution. Yes, or no sir. Do YOU, NW30 support the US Constitution?

Next Question...Jared , and Ivanka used personal email servers to conduct GOVT biz. Since both are members of Billion $$$ Real Estate families, and Jared's father is a felon, who bribed NJ politicians, should we investigate?

With Donald Trump's ridiculous public outbursts regimenting patriotism and love of country and flag, I can see him taking on a Kim Jung Un type persona where he expects unwavering adulation and worship from all those around him.

If one goes back into history and looks at Hitler and the Nazis, the Third Reich was completely awash with Nazi flags and symbols. It kind of gives a perspective on how twisted and unreal things can get. Moreover, it's quite clear to me that none of that stuff displays or represents the spirit of freedom or independence.

Yes, satisfied? The constitution aside, do you believe that during the National Anthem is just as good as any other time to make a demonstration of complaint?

Your second question would never stand up in court it's the same as "leading the witness", so it's irrelevant, and, I don't really care.

NONE of his family parents or brothers sisters are even americans, he is by birth, it appears he was not raised much in the USA to know what racism is about.

Can we give him a history test of racism in america not of spain?

wiki..
Quote:
Villanueva was born on Naval Air Station Meridian in Meridian, Mississippi to Ignacio Villanueva, a Spanish Naval officer who worked for NATO, and his Spanish wife Matilda Martin.[1][2] Both his mother and father are over 6 feet (1.8 m) tall. Alejandro was the eldest of the family's four children, including siblings Paloma, Iñaki and Carmen.

During his childhood, he lived in Rhode Island, Spain, and Belgium. In Spain he learned to play rugby, which, for a time, he preferred to football, which he began to play in Belgium.[1] It was while he was attending SHAPE High School in Casteau, Belgium that he was recruited to play American football.[3] Villanueva's childhood friend whom he'd met at SHAPE HS was recruited to play football for the Army Black Knights and his friend told the Army coaches about Villanueva.[3] They kept in touch and Villanueva told him that he was considering attending West Point, where he later enrolled.[3]

His brother Iñaki Villanueva is a professional rugby union player. He plays with the Spain national rugby union team and with the sevens team. He was in the squad that qualified for the 2016 Olympics and he played in the Olympic tournament.

It doesn't bother me a lot that a bunch of dumb jocks choose to diss the country that gave them the opportunity to become rich and influential. What pisses me off most is the false message they are sending to gullible kids and chronological "adults" who actually believe that the whole Black Lives Matter, reparations, Woe Is Us crap is valid on any significant scale. Too many people of too many colors have succeeded too wildly to justify such claims, and every grownup of any age knows that "Hands Up, Don't Shoot" is factually BS.
