So, you are not bothered by the blatant disrepect the Bush girls showed the office of the United States presidency? Especially Jenna.. oh, the OURAGE!

If a reporter, or political operative had commented on such activities, I would have disapproved of that reporting but not made ridiculous accusations of bigotry or racism. See the point now? Incidentally, that type of activity has not been an official Presidential event since Clinton left the White House........and even those weren't televised. Enough! I'm going windsurfing.

Doubtful, my guess..Jockey's Ridge or Nags Head, or one of the other safe inland locales.

Just to remind y'all of mrgybe's initial comment. It was not on the inappropriateness of commentary about the President's daughters by a Congressional staffer who said that she had to pray to get it right. No, it was to agree with the criticism:

Quote:
Two sullen, inappropriately dressed teenage girls, do nothing to hide their boredom with a traditional, televised ceremony in front of the US flag, the Presidential standard and the President of the United States. They get called on it, as millions of parents would have done, and he sees bigotry. Who knew that saying "you're not going out dressed like that!" was such a dire offense!

reinerehlers,

Some years ago, Keycocker indicated that he shared one of isobars off-the-top diatribes on this forum with his students in Belize as kind of a lesson. Needless to say, isobars was furious about it, and it still continues eat at him endlessly to this day.

isobars has gone on and on in the past about the bad influences here saying questionable things on the forum that children might read, yet ironically he's conveniently forgetful of the ugly and hateful nonsense he is known to spread here. isobars never really looks into the mirror to see himself as others do.

We're arguably at war with terrorists (we're still sending ever more combat troops into Iraq). Putin is conducting a putsch in an attempt to reincarnate the USSR. Iran is clearly on the brink of having nuclear warheads and may soon have ICBM delivery platforms for them. Kim Jung Dong Bong Wakjob is fully nuclear and insane. Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton vowed on stage to attack (she used some euphemism like "go into") every nation harboring global terrorists (there were something like 100 of them at last count). Yet our Commander in Chief meets only once a week with the nation's top military strategist, the SecDef ... less often than he confers with that stupid masterracebaiter Al Sharpton, if recent reports of his White House revolving door activities are correct.

What does that say about our president's leadership, sanity, clarity, focus, allegiance to his oath of office, and faith in the military forces that keep this nation and the free world viable?

Columbia Law School has authorized its students to postpone their exams because Michael Brown's and Eric Garner's deaths were unsettling, even comparable to deaths in the family. In case the implications of that are not clear, it's sending the message to its future lawyers that whatever they consider seriously unsettling is grounds to tell a judge or client that "I can't come into court today; I'm upset."

Remind me never to hire a lawyer out of Columbia. S/he's a baby.

WaPo OpEd: Former St. Louis Cop Speaks Out

Quote:
Does any American seriously NOT know that there is a "Cop Culture" in this nation? Do any of us have a genuine understanding of what goes in inside that culture?

Unless you've lived inside of it, you really don't. Redditt Hudson works for the NAACP and chairs the board of the Ethics Project in St. Louis, Mo. He was a cop with the St. Louis PD for 5 years - enough time to become fully-immersed in the Cop Culture, understand it, and form an accurate opinion on it.

He has written an OpEd for the Washington Post which I link for you here.

Excerpts and commentary in the body of this diary.

Yes, he joined the SLPD. He got inside the belly of the beast and learned. He learned about the attitudes of his fellow officers, how they operate, and why they do what they do - with so much of what they do being wrong.

So in 1994, I joined the St. Louis Police Department. I quickly realized how naive I’d been. I was floored by the dysfunctional culture I encountered. I won’t say all, but many of my peers were deeply racist.

His next paragraph goes on to detail just how racist the organization was (and very likely still is).

We've all seen - not just recently, but again and again over the years - how cops will abuse suspects, witnesses, and even bystanders (especially those recording them) with impunity. But how can cops conduct themselves in such blatantly-unacceptable ways and not lose their jobs over it? Mr. Hudson reveals a truth we have only recently come to realize:

But too many times, officers saw young black and brown men as targets. They would respond with force to even minor offenses. And because cops are rarely held accountable for their actions, they didn’t think too hard about the consequences.

Quote:
This is why Mr. Hudson quit being a cop. In his own words:

But more and more, I felt like I couldn’t do the work I set out to do. I was participating in a profoundly corrupt criminal justice system. I could not, in good conscience, participate in a system that was so intentionally unfair and racist.

The problem is that cops aren’t held accountable for their actions, and they know it. These officers violate rights with impunity. They know there’s a different criminal justice system for civilians and police.

you are one piece of cake... that being some yellow cake from Niger that was fake .

anyway Bush told us he won the war. But in fact by attacking a country that he told his cabinet (paul O-'Neil who served several other presidents wrote in his book he did) well Bush wanted a way to get into Iraq the first month of his presidency as a priority. anyway Bush created more terrorists in the ME than any other human in the history of the world. In fact as Bush left office he had brought down the US favoribility rate/(respect) in the entire world to the lowest in the history of mankind. I think in the entire world there were less than 10 countries that were over 50% favoribility of the bush as he left.

Hey are we more likely to have people that want to do harm to us when we are hated all over the world or are we going to have fewer terrorists when we are liked. Past any right wingers paygrade to figure that one out.

Putin started his expansion under Bush when Bush did nothing when Putin went to Georgia... That told Putin all he needed to know, if Bush who told the world he looked into Putins eyes and knew he was a kind spirited guy like Bush. Wow did that idiot get that one wrong too.

What did Bush do to stop Iran, well didn't he have Cheney sell some Haliburton services under the table to them or was to Saddam? Or maybe he traded some arms with them when illegal?

Didn't Bush invade North Korea too?

Now can you back up your statement that Sharpton is in the whitehouse more than the military. Would love that one. Do you remember the journalist who had his gay escort website, gucket or something like that. who gave media softball questions at press conferences. Well as public record they released his attendance that he was in the whitehouse what a hundred times and overnight a good portion one one day passes?.. Remember he got his media credentials at a matchbook weekend course put on by right wingers and called himself a journalist. would be interesting to see if Sharpton gets more passes than that escort.

Can you imagine if a dem was allowing a prostitute into the whitehouse with rare one day i mean night passes? where was the outrage, the hearings, and impeachment when Bush was doing this...

Quote:
Jeff Gannon, 'embedded' White House reporter, revealed as gay prostitute
Anti-gay US administration embedded this 'reporter' to ask only pro-war, anti-liberal questions. Was given press badge in 2003. Bloggers reveal him as gay prostitute in 2005. Anti-gay US administration responds by removing him from future press conferences. Was discovered to have been using fake name and fake credentials to gain security clearance. No charges ever pressed.
