This is kinda directed mostly at the Kona guys. I'd encourage you all to go to one of the big Kona events in 2014, even if you don't like racing or consider yourself to be a competitive person. The reason? It's an eye-opening experience that will make you a better free sailor on your Kona. You get to be around world-class sailors on the exact same equipment of yours. These guys get on a plane early, sail comfortably in wind many would consider over-powering, and sail efficiently upwind, which will help you destination sailing.

I learned many things too last year in a more local race. I sadly missed the Worlds that were held next door this year Sad

I liked the fact that testosterone levels were reasonable, conducive to an enjoyable experience. This contrasts with cycling for example. Arguably, an inexperienced cyclist is quite dangerous to the other cyclists around while racing.

Just started an order for my second Kona One.
Embarassed Stupidity and expediency drove me to sell the first one.

I can always park outside this winter. I live at 9000 feet in the Rockies. We only get 300-350 inches of snow a year.

As far as I've been able to check, no Kona events on the Left Coast at all.
