|
|
I'm an intermediate windsurfer (straps, harness, planing, beach start, very iffy waterstart). I weigh 194 lb.
I rented a Fanatic Shark 150L and felt like I did well with that. The thing is that I can purchase a 135L Shark for much less than the 150L.
The other boards I own are a older Starboard GO at 170L and a Bic Techno 273 at 125L. I've never even tried the Bic because I damaged it, but I intend to repair it.
Any thoughts on whether I would be happier with the 135 or the 150 given my weight and the other boards I own? Intended use is to mow the lawn on the water back and forth and learn how to gybe. If I could use the 150, for example, much more often in lighter conditions, that would really be a plus. Also, this board needs to be uphaulable as I am not close to having perfected the water start. |

my buddy had a BIC Techno 160
he purchased a Fanatic Hawk 135 and sold the 160 too quickly
now he needs 16 knots before he goes and he is still adjusting to the 8-oh
so, yeah - bigger is better
why not the GO 170 ??
if you have the GO 170 and BIC 125 - you should be good to GO
pardon the pun |

Stay with the Go right now, the 150 will not speed uo your learning curve unless you are sailing in higher wind speeds or choppy water. What you will gain with the 150 is a quicker turning board, great if you are already jibing but often not so great for learning.

Good tips. I think I will hold pat for now and just use the GO and see what I can do with it. |

The fanatic shark 150 is best option as it is easy-to-use compact outline and efficient volume flow and feel. It have double concave cuts through the chop at high speed. _________________ Caravan Power Pedestals | Visit us to get the info about |

I ended up picking up a used starboard carve 144. I just couldn't pass it up. I'm looking forward to giving it a spin later. |
