Yesterday I went out late around 5 pm. Exactly like you guys said the wind line was about half way to Angelica. Once I made it out around Angelica and beyond I had the best session of my life . I was on an 8.5 148L and lit the whole time. The board was a tad large, but not to bad. The steady wind, swell jumping/riding was awsome. It wasnt so choppy, just more spaced out swell. Super cool riding out there. Glad I stopped when I did, as the wind line was moving out. I cant wait to ride out there on a smaller board when its really cranking. Aganin thank you guys for all the info! Very helpful. |

There is also another factor - in unfamiliar conditions you get trashed on day 1 and are cruising by day 2. |

Well it took me long enough! Finally made the drive up from eastern Ct. yesterday hoping to get lucky and was not disappointed!
This turned out to be one of my best sessions ever here in southern New England! The drive up was easy with no traffic. Well worth it. I'll be back for more, soon I hope!
Thanks everyone for all the helpful advice. |

Also there are submerged little mines (rocks ) on the way out, find out where they are before ....
The water is clear there so you will see them if at low speed or ask somebody.
The launch is from a tiny beach on the east side of the parking lot.
There is a shower and a bathroom that looks like it escaped from a 4 star hotel, nice grass, sailboats...
You are lucky to live there
Alena (95 miled drive for me and another 95 back) |

Thanks Alena! I was fortunate enough to get there near low tide so I could see these rocks. I go barefoot whenever possible and had no problem with that and had a fabulous afternoon! Maybe next time I'll venture further out into the bay. |

A 125-130 l board should work for you. I'm about 40 lb lighter and use a 110 as my go-to board, which I can slog without any problems, even in chop.
If you get a new board, you should also get a boost in performance that helps you. A couple of regulars at Kalmus recently got new gear, and they look a lot better on it than on the old stuff they had been sailing. It may take a few sessions to get adapted to the new gear, but it's worth the effort. |
