I finalized my longboard portable rack system for rental car. It includes a FCS Premium Soft Rack (from Amazon.com), a Riverside Ratch Pack (from REI), a Seattle Sports Quick Loops (from REI). On the top of this, I added as a precautionary measure, a set of Dakine Baja Straps. I am ready to take it for a 60 miles test drive on highway. I will report when back.

That looks good to go, especially since you can see the board through your windshield to see any looseness that may occur.

Test drive results
65 miles on highway, in the 60-70 mph range, mostly 65
No vibration seen from windshield
No noise up to 40 mph
Noise from strap vibration above 40 mph
At the end of trip, board was tightly CV connected to car roof (as tight as with Yakima roof rack). It reassured me about being able to complete successfully my 2,000+ mile trip.
Once disconnected bow and stern ropes, I tested connection again and looked still pretty tight, but I would not drive more than 100 miles with it. I believe the bow connection is crucial.

Absolutely! I wouldn't drive 2 miles at highway speeds without it, as the entire aerodynamic lifting force is borne by that front strap.
Twisting the vibrating straps should shut them up. Vibration => wear.
