Wondering if mast is too stiff for my sail?

I'll bet you don't have enough downhaul, because you don't go to spec.
Also, when you say you depower to 2.5, that means the wrinkle from the leech goes HALFWAY to the mast up there. Most guys downhaul so the wrinkle goes ALL THE WAY from the leech to the mast, up above 2.5.
You also mentioned you like to rig for power. That is counter to rigging for early planing or topspeed. Power only lifts you up in waterstarts and then pulls you dead sideways. A correctly rigged sail might not have as much pure "power", but it makes the board plane up earlier AND it gives much bigger wind range with much more top speed.
Gaastra no cam sails need positive outhaul, to pull the boom battens to the back of the mast.
