Looking for a constant curve 490cm SDM. What brands are left out there? To be used with Ezzy 8.5 Cheetah.

KA Sails makes constant curve masts. The ezzy masts rig pretty darn well on the KA sails so I'm sure the KA masts will suite the Cheetah just fine. I have used both the KA SDM/RDM and the Ezzy RDMs on a range of KA/Ezzy sails to great success.

Specs (KA's US site seems to be down)

I like the price point of the Powerex Free 80 but do the new Powerex masts live up to the brand's past lofty status?

The old Powerex masts were nearly identical to the Ezzy bend curves. That's not true any longer.

The closest to the bend of the Ezzy RDM 490 is offered by two brands: GUN Sails and Epic Gear.

The GUN will flex a touch more toward the top, while the Epic will flex a touch more toward the base. But each will overlap enough so you can tune out the difference. That's not the case with many other masts.

Does anyone have experience with the Ezzy 490 mast? Thoughts on how it performs vs a 75-80% carbon SDM?

I used a 490 ezzy rdm mast with an 8.8 HSM speed demon before. I used to have the speed demon in 6.6 and always rigged it on a different mast and felt that the ezzy seemed to be softer which I didn't like.
