Candlestick nobody there but us chickens.
Very Gusty very windy mid afternoon to sometime past
5pm. Very low turnout . 3 out mid afternoon and three for swing
shift. Looks like it moderated a little after 5 pm.
feeling very overpowered in the gusts on a 4.7 and it was
pretty lumpy for the stick.
Not Southwest but not Northwest.
Direction shifting at times .

Sailed the stick as part of the swing shift at 6:30. Winds came down a notch and it was fun sailing. Conditions seemed more spring like and not the wind that typically blows in July. Mr. Toad had his wild ride on a 4.5.

Jul 15. Great Crissy day going from overpowered 4.3 (!) to just right. Usual choppy conditions but also a lot of nice swell. The Starboard 81 FSW is the perfect Crissy board for my weight. I now use it with a Maui Ultra fin X-wave 22 + two very small (6cm) K4 sides and it works wonders.
Jul 16 the wind is stronger ... I still rig 4.3 and I am pretty much overpowered all afternoon and I stop a few times hoping for the wind to die out a bit. It does not
In other news: a few very ... large kiters show up in the rigging area. They ... occupy a lot of space and eventually I have to ask the guy close to me if he please does not mind to move maybe just a foot? He seems to enjoy inflating his kite right on top of my board ...
In other kiters news somebody gets disconnected from his kite that drifts well outside of Point Anita dragging 20 yards of ropes behind it. A bit worrisome (for the kiter) but apparently he did make it to shore.
July 17 It finally fails. Southwesterly and you need a 6.0 to go anywhere, finally the fog that lurks over the south tower rolls in and it is over.
Oh well, between Coyote and Crissy I had a 5 days run, unheard of this season!

Berkeley, get to ride 5.7 with 110, 92, then 85 liter boards. Arpund 20 jibes each.
2 hours later, get to foil 5.5 Hydra with a freeride foil instead of my Naish setup.

Same with Berkeley with PI a hair stronger.
Fanatic demo day had most 160lbs. sailors using 4.2 to 4.7.

I am on the Isonic 111 and 6.5, but I should be on the 7.3 that is at home. Very up and down I almost never have a complete run without some slogging.
Robert is out with the JP 135, F4 foil and RS Flight 5.4 and he is doing much better. Incredible upwind angle, as fast as my underpowered isonic, imperious to lulls he glides happily through the holes.
Impressive. He is about 40 pounds heavier than me and on a 1 square meter smaller sail ...
We are the only two people out and close the day at 5pm.

Berkeley reading 14-20 all day.
4.0 and foil revealed punchy 20 and horrid 4 mph holes with lots of fakes and fits.
5.2 and Skate gives smoother ride and holes fill in a bit by 4pm.
Fog is too close, PtIsa better and 3 stronger.

It was a surprisingly good morning at Sherman Island with a very nice ebb tide. Shown are John Kramer and John Stewart.

My foil (Slingshot w/84 wing) came off my 110L RRD Firemove (powerbox) about a mile from the dock on Saturday. That single bolt isn't enough to secure a foil..especially one with a big wing like the 84. I jammed the rear stabilizer to the rear strap and secured it with rope. The mast was fully in the water and made for a good rudder but I still had to muscle the board back to the dock. The wind was blowing 18 when it happened (3 pm).
