Monday PIsa was looking better, so naturally I go to Berkeley for a 5.2 and 84 liter session. Just barely able to plane in the light spots, comfy in the gusts, why did I drive past PIsa?

Ha ha, avoided crowds again today at Berkeley
Was reading around 11-17, 100 liters and 6.6, planing solid in the gusts, of course slogging in the holes. Maybe 50/50, and the foil guys doing a bit better with Formula boards and 6-7.7 sized sails.
I leave my F-167 at home, where it's a very nice table for garage junk.

Almost exactly my experience today at PI, except on a 5.0 and 106L (183 lbs). Almost as crowded, but didn't have to take a number to launch. Stop by some time?

Guess I"m a confirmed Berkeley addict.
In my car, I had a 111 Futura, MagicRide 118, and Formula 162, but chose the 100 liter fast freeride board, just to see if I could make it work when the foil crowd were using mid 6 meter to high 7 meter sails.
As we all know, a Formula board can slog upwind much quicker than a 100 liter slalom board, so they got up past the gap in the pier pretty quickly, while I was planing back and forth gaining maybe 70 feet worth of upwind for 6 reach's until I got up to the Lordships. Once I got there, I hesitated going further upwind, as 3 foil guys were slogging down from above the gap. That hesitation cost me, as I wasted 3:45 to 4PM just reaching back and forth in varying stages of power, and the wind hiccupped right at 4, so I slogged home to the third dock.
It's OK, beats using a 4.7 sail and 84 liter board any time.... Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Pretty day at Natural Bridges although the wind was light. Very light inside, any where in the teens on the outside. Up and down. I used my Ezzy 7.0 Cheetah on a repaired Techno and had fun. That combo works quite well in those conditions. Get planing out where there is wind, come in with the swell and plane well into the area where the wind is only single digits. Yes, you can plane in 8 knots of wind, but you need much, much more to get started. Then it becomes fun to see how long one can hold the plane.

You're kidding, right.
THOUSANDS of surfer's are in the waters every day, and almost none ever get bitten in Santa Cruz.
Plenty of kayakers, boogie boarder's, and swimmers get bitten.
