Probably could have scored a 4.7/small board session at Third today, but got lazy and sailed Palo Alto instead. The dock is only a 10-15 minute drive from my house. Same set up as yesterday at the Stick..fat board and a 7.3 in 12 mph wind which ramped up to 17 during my hour and half session. Did a dozen runs to the Newark shore..jibes getting better on the big ass board. No one else in the water except for one kayaker.

Rigging area at the old 3rd ave launch. Windsurfer parked in front of me had $2500 worth of windsurf gear stuffed in his $85,000 Tesla Model X. I have a $2500 1991 Toyota Previa stuffed with primo gear worth about $85,000. I figure we're about even-steven Laughing . Went 5.0/freestyle board today when 4.5/80L triwave would have been the better call as it was blowing 23 mph out at the channel.

I don' think you can get a model x for less than 120k
then you can't strap anything to the roof because of the
falcon doors. Not nocking Telsa but a model S you could
rack stuff.

Just joking about the cost comparison. I occasionally sail with the fella that owns the Tesla and he bemoans the fact that the front passenger seat does not fully recline and he can only fit 1 board and a couple of sails. Here's my van fully loaded with 6 boards ( the Kona CarbOne is behind my rigging bench), 15 sails, 6 booms, 5 masts, 5 wetsuits, etc, etc. On second thought, maybe the cost difference is not so far apart Rolling Eyes

Yea the Model S seems to be set up better for WSing. Front seat reclines enough to carry 2 boards inside and you also can put racks on the roof. But even the S, you'll want the extra features like extra capacity battery, the giant computer screen and maybe ludicrous mode putting it well over $85k.

Nice setup Bert, you can truly sail in any conditions probably all winter too!

4.2/80L Fanatic triwave at the upper launch at 3rd. Astroturf rigging area, restroom facility, paved parking, and kiters galore as opposed to the more Spartan conditions of the lower launch. The sailors at uppers are more likely to drink Gordon Biersch after their session while the lower launch boardheads are more the Dos Equis types Cool. Wind was westerly 15-25 during my session, a bit light on the inside. The triwave felt good in the choppy conditions..compact and responsive to foot steer, you could "attack" the chop and swells. Wind came down just a bit after 3pm. Lot's of sailors rigging up as I was leaving.

15 sails? Do you have a lot of duplicates? I've got 11 in the van, but I've got to admit to having a least 2-3 old dogs I've been too lazy to remove.

No old dogs in my arsenal. Sails range from 3.3 to 9.5 m2 in increments and with the exception of the 3.3 Combat wave, I've used all my sails this year as I sail on average 150 days/year in all conditions since my retirement 5 yrs. ago. I do have 2 duplicates in the 5.0 size, a 2014 Retro and a 2016 North Sails Volt (an awesome sail). But you're right..15 sails does sound like overkill. Embarassed
