Jorion, there were about 7 or so up at the park, couple of kites. Sailed a little earlier as wind and ebb were building. Very nice first day. There are changes at the Access, a little fence so you can't drive to the end. Bathrooms there off to the left. Parking will be limited and will involve a walk to the launch. Workable but not convenient. Will be better as the weeds get stomped down. I wonder how long it will be like that? It will put some pressure on the park which is what I and others did. Nice day, spring has sprung. Only a few deadwood in the water.

Had plans to sail from Embassy just past noon til I saw the exposed sandbar 50 yards from launch. I once hit that sonofabitch 20 yrs ago coming in at full speed..damn near killed me. Went to Oyster Pt. instead and sailed at Tigers for an hour..same 5.5/110L setup as yesterday. Wind was better today and I almost made it past the Sierra Pt. channel markers. Uphauled and headed back to Oysters. 4.7 wind developing at Tigers by 2 pm.

Perfect 5.0/85 day at Da Stick. Warm. steady wind, opened up all the way to the other side, little chop. Did 22 runs in a row after coming in to adjust the out haul: quite a progress from the 4 runs of 4 weeks ago
Lots of people out, and talked with a lot of friends on the beach: what more can you ask for!

Nice pics Loopy! Can you give any tighter location information than "west coast"?
I sailed Natural Bridges today. Good if you had gear that would work in 7 to 9 knots. Which I did. Even caught some waves which is always fun. The water was a beautiful light blue. Wildlife watching was amazing. Lots of sea lions, some jumping straight up out of the water and then turning late to dive back in. Harbor seals about, some of the lighter colored ones looking like slugs just below the surface. I saw a lot of common dolphins and there was one humpback whale. Lots of little fish all around keeping them happy. The water was so clear I could watch the dolphins swim by my board, I am guessing about eight feet deep below me. The whale stayed right in that area outside the kelp beds most of the day. Sometimes breaching straight up with a good part of its head above water. So it was a waves and wildlife day. Light on the wind side, but I have learned to live with that and actually can like it. Cuts down on the percentage of the waves caught versus tried to catch, but I caught enough fun ones that I am not complaining.

12 mph at Berkeley. Sitting in the Westy on the frontage road enjoying an afternoon cocktail, watching Mitsu planing back-and-forth. How does he do that? What a view.

Very southerly, it finally comes in around 3:30. Out with Patrik 100/6.5 slog a bit and then hit the wind line that goes all the way to Sierra Point. Very nice runs starboard toward the San Mateo Bridge and VERY west on port! It does not last long, after about 40-45' the wind at Sierra start to drop and I head back just in time to avoid slogging.
Nice tropical day ... only David and Rob venture out with me.

As of right now you can ski in the morning on Mt Rose and windsurf at Washoe Lake in the afternoon. It won't last long, check open dates and conditions at Rose before going. Washoe is waist deep out in the center after a pretty good walk out in knee deep water. Kiters are taking advantage of it. Washoe is filling but we have no idea how deep or how long it will last...

Jekyll and Hyde weekend for me. Tepid 6.2/110 slogfest at Palo Alto on Saturday, then hellish 4.2/80L survival sailing this Sunday at Coyote. SFO was blowing at least 35 with gusts to 45 by 2:30 with big chop that comes right at you due to the westerly wind. A bit holey close to shore and only the foolhardy would venture out past the first buoy. About a dozen hardy sailors sailing. Should still be windy tomorrow.
