Washoe has awoken from a 12 day midsummer nap. Still have water but can now stand across most of the lake-we will need a good strong winter or will be sailing elsewhere next year. Sunday was good, had bathing suit conditions with 12 or so sailors with maybe close to 30 kiters.

Good wind arrived unexpectedly so I had to sneak away from work.

Rigged 5.3. Broken batten made this formerly wonderful sail less than stable. (Notes that North are now advertising "unbreakable battens" in the 2014 sail line. That sounds like the old ones were recognized to be breakable. I've broken two so far in 2010-12 sails.)

This was a bit much for me in gusts of 30, but it was good to have real wind for the first time since July 4. I'd only had two feeble 7.3 sessions between then and today.

Two other sailors were out.

Forecast looks even stronger for Thursday.

I was there yesterday and it the wind wasn't that good but the water level is higher than I have ever seen it in 15 years. It nearly 225 the water is well past the tree on the North Side. This means no weed trouble but you have to park in the area where there is dry prickly vegetation. The water is nearly up to the One bathroom left on the North Side and about 20 feet past the tree one of the garage cans near the water is half under.

At Coyote teaching windsurfing. Fun!

The county is rebuilding the beach barrier, there will be 3 large windsurfing ramps!!!! Very nice. Talked with boardsports and they say construction will be in sections and access to the water should be guaranteed all the time through the ramp close to the shop.

Today (8/2_ the ramp by the Boardsports shop was open after 1:30. The east beach is open to access all the time.

Isabel friday. Dirt, dogshit, broken glass, powered up 5.5, beer, peanuts. Need I say more? Actually, I lied about the peanuts.

It was truly wonderful out there today: sunny, warm, solid wind, slack tide. I'm not advocating for Shimada Park, but as a complete contrast to dirt and dogshit of PI, you should check it out. Rig on beautiful lawn (okay, with some goose shit), walk down the steps...fully powered. Some days it is weak at the launch when PI is still okay, but...

PI used to be tolerable until they scalped off the minimal vegetation.
