none at all, I would think - those were the good 'ole days of Polyester, so any laminating "surfboard" Polyester should do you

You even said it in your question, "in my polyester glass sailboard".
There is no epoxy there.
Besides, it a little cheaper and easier to get, you're in luck.

Epoxy is often used to repair any kind of insert in a poly board or boat because it is much superior glue. Any type can be used except little tubes of five
minute.
Little known fact. Poly is not entirely waterproof. High end poly boats are sometimes coated with epoxy to prevent water migration over time, esp. in any area that flexes.

I would worry that anyone who has to ask what kind of resin works with a polyester board is probably over his head attempting to replace a fin box in a board he cares about, considering how many board shapers/makers can't do a good job of it. I've seen far too many fin box replacements by the name-brand custom shapers who built the board fail again within just hours. I have some boards I'll try anything on, but they're banged-up mutts kept for that purpose, not nice rare Hauts, Rogue Waves, Rutgers, or Bonzers.

What Isobars said..

(I used to be a glasser for a well known shaper so I actually have some idea of what I am talking about) Using epoxy on a polyester board is simply a waste of epoxy and a waste of time.. Any polyester board is a disposable board.. Well, ANY board is a disposable board. If the fin box comes out. Have someone that knows what they are doing put a new one in. A lot of times there is a little bit more going on than just a crack around the fin box (skin delamitation, foam delamitation, water intrusion, etc..) None of this really matters if the repair guy knows what they are doing. It should be able to be fixed pretty quick with a reasonably high probability of success.

Finding someone with the required experience to fix your board is far more important than using epoxy or polyester on a polyester fin box repair..

I figured if you had something constructive to say, I might listen, but with the dribble coming from you and other why listen. You don't know what your talking about anyway.

Blue, we've given you solid, sincere advice. Whether you choose to heed any of it is your own call. The fact that you don't understand it verifies our questioning whether you really want to do this yourself.
