getting harness lines onto boom

just got a new set of dakine adjustable harness lines with the jam cleat. i am trying to fit them on my new chinook boom. I have been able to move them in place but i cant tighten them engough to get the velcro on. I have tried forcing it but I am splitting the stiching. any suggestions? why are these things so difficult?

I have these harness lines as well on my chinook boom and they are a bit tough - especially when brand new but they do stretch and get easier with time. I'm assuming you're having problems with the end where the cleat is the most. You have to work the opening in the webbing of the harness line slowly up and over the cleat pushing with you thumbs rather than pulling on the velcro attachment. You might try wetting the harness line webbing so it softens up a litlle to get it to stretch. Same method applies to the front one. Once you sail with them a few times and adjust thier location on the boom with changing sail sizes - they do get easier -just need some breakin time.

thanks will give it a try again after spraying some water on it!

your dead on it is the end with the cleat that is giving me the problem, not that the other end is to easy to work with.

Well THERE'S your problem --- You're trying to put Dakine lines on a Chinook boom! ;-)

Spraying a little water on does little good.
Try soaking the connections in warm water for a couple hours, then it really stretches to fit over the boom arms.
