Hey fellow windsurfers,
After much research I decide to buy a New Starboard Carve 111. The only thing is, is you can't get one. All gone and none in the future. SOOO I'm now looking for input on the JP all ride 106. Flat water 5.5 to 6.5 sailing. I'm only 165 lbs so I don't like or need a super wide board....Thanks

Will not go wrong with this one.
I got it last year. Unfortunately used only 2 times. One time on flat water, second on weird chop. Both times with 6.5
Very smooth and quite fast board.

Andrei.

Seen them at 101 Sports...
Looks like an ideal freeride board for winds from 5.0 sails up thru 7.0, with a change of fins.
Faster than any FSW, easier riding and better jibing than any slalom, it looks like an ideal ONE board for winds from 17-30 mph.
Oh, I have FSW's, ProSlalom, Waves, of JP, all superlative boards.

I have the All Ride 116 but I weigh 220 or so, so maybe it's comparable. I love the board, one word description would be smooth. Smooth in everything it does. I was told it's sweet spot for me would be 5.5 to 6.0 which makes up about half of my sailing and it's perfect for those conditions. I can use it with my 6.6 with a bigger fin but it's a little "sticky" to get it planning, but works. 5.0 and I'm changing boards down. Standing "O" for this board.

I remember riding it in the last windsurfing magazine board test. I'm also 165 lbs. It was light, stiff, and small feeling, and good as a high-wind freeride board for 6.5 and smaller. As I recall you can set it up with a single back footstrap for bump-and-jump or double back strap for pure cruising. It turns well enough to carve a fair jibe but it's definitely not super turny / slashy like a freestyle-wave board. Likewise, it doesn't have the super powerful "drive off the fin" feel of a slalom board. Experimenting with different fins could probably shift its character a bit in either direction. I think it's a solid choice as a first 100ish liter board.

Great board. I loved it. My *recollection* is that it might be a teensy bit high strong for a first-time 100-liter board sailor. (But man, that was a lot of years ago and I have ridden a lot of boards since then.) Maybe James can comment.
