Exactly what I expected, lefties will not tip their hand on what they really believe, they just deflect to something else, and or belittle the person, question or premise.
Isn't anyone on the left willing to state exactly what they want from our government? Isn't this really the debate, what the left REALLY wants vs. what the right REALLY wants? |

Can someone explain to me, as I am not an expert on constitutional law, why Americans always site the 2nd amendment as the right to individually bear arms of their choosing. The way I read ... Would that not be the police and military personal who are issued weapons and then are they allowed to "keep and bear arms". I cant see how keeping a loaded gun under the pillow as being necessary to the security of a free State. |
The Supreme Court decided that dilemma in the individual's favor long ago. All that's left is what weapons we can and can't own.
Just vote for? Hell, both my wife and I have directly and personally worked with and designed many aspects of many WMDs, collectively including cruise missiles, every kind of military aircraft, high energy laser weapons, and almost every nuclear bomb and delivery system in the U.S. inventory. How 'bout THEM apples?
If believing in a strong national and personal defense against criminal attackers, a strong economy, self-reliance in our daily and professional lives, unearned handouts only to those with no other options, and the freedom to do most things that harm no one else makes me scary,
I guess I AM one scary dude. Fortunately, a majority of my countrymen feel the same. If they didn't, I'd be remiss in not emigrating.
But if I'm so scary, why have I never even been in a fistfight?
Methinks you've been swallowing too much of the liberal BS from the lefties here. |

Missouri House Bill 545 attempts to ban, then confiscate, one of the most effective, most housewife-friendly (almost no kick), most highly-rated home defense weapons available. It was introduced into the legislature in February, but trying to track it via the state statute website produces this result: " A description for this result is not available because of this site's robots.txt:.
Several states passed laws prohibiting effective self-defense handguns even for police officers on duty. NY, for example, limited pistol magazines to 6 or 7 rounds ... about the number of shots required for an experienced officer to stop one attacker. I'd turn in my badge right then, right there. Bill Gates doesn't make enough money to pay me to seek out armed criminals while armed that lightly. |

Is this fiction from Fick-shun?
You and wifey probably argue over who can piss farther, too.
Mikey, you sure are a self-important but funny guy.

Ah! Thank you both for the memory jog.
Loaned my copy of 'Billy Liar' to a friend many moons ago, and forgot to claim it back.
Must do so! |

Bard, I would say dumbest.
Reinerehlers & Mrgybe, I know this is a pointless debate on a windsurf site. I am trying to get in insight into the psyche of the American gun culture from others who share the same passion as myself, although it is something that I will never understand. With a homicide rate of 4-5 times other 1st world nations (although not even in the same league as South Africa,Honduras, El Salvador etc) , I would think that more would care for the most basic of human rights, that of living. I threw my line in here and the biggest fish that bite have very flimsy arguments as to why they should have guns. If Isobars was a fish he would be the first in the boat. So far the arguments for are the right to protect yourself against others like yourself or an undefined threat (Isobars says he has never been in a fight). To stop the government taking away your rights like in prewar Germany.( As if groups of persecuted individuals could have achieved what Poland and most European nations could not with their armed forces). And lastly that there are too many guns out there with too much legislation in place to bother doing anything at all.(Even though Bard just pointed out that it easier to pass legislation for even more liberal gun laws)
Between now and this time tomorrow, you can expect 85 of your citizens not to be breathing because of guns with more than twice this number to be treated in hospital from nonfatal wounds. More than 60% of these deaths will be suicide and of these 3/4s will be using fire arms stored in the residence of the victim, a relative, or a friend. Of all the homicides that will take place more than 65% will involve guns.(2010 statistics, they may well be different for this year).
Good luck out there. |

At least we don't play Brucie ... changing nyms in an unsuccessful attempt to make us think you're a new and/or honest face, bajaDean (and more temporary guises).
We don't need strong arguments to carry guns; that is the default right for non-felons in many states. "I want to carry a concealed weapon" is the only justification need in the many "right to carry" states. If that frightens you, avoid those states, but be aware most states are heading in that direction. |

Keep digging Iso. Wrong again. No it doesn't frighten me because I have no intention of visiting America. Feel free to keep shooting yourselves if that is what you want. |
