When powered up you are hanging on the rig and should have zero problem unhooking,.

Concur, maybe that's what the whole issue is here.
It's always going to be difficult to unhook when standing upright and slogging.

I've never needed a quick release my last 16,692 sessions (173,482 crashes) with all kinds of WSing bars and lines I've ever seen.

Of course, I have gills.

I can't unhook easily unless my seat harness spreader bar is high and tight. When loose, it sags remaining hooked even with drooping harness lines.

When I learned to windsurf (1979) my first harness was one I made myself and I put the hook up. I sailed hook up for 10 years. I han long harness lines the went close to where I gripped the boom. I could unhook by pulling in to release tension and flicking the line up with my thumb. It was super easy. I have more trouble now that I sail with the hook facing "the right way". I do find most new hooks to have too much depth to the curve for me. I get out the torch and adjust them.
