Stuart Causeway East Island
Aerial Video and Windsurfing
Stuart, FL - May 18, 2013

Just enough wind to play with a 8.5m Sail and 144L board. I also got a chance to try a new camera mount that gets some nice aerial shots.

Hi there! There's nothing like local knowledge of course, but in your search for good launches around the state (and around the country!), you might find WaterSpotr helpful:

Enjoy!

Hello, i haven't sailed down there recently, but lake mangonia was a freshwater spot, we sailed park(palm beach rowing association is in park) on east side so good for west winds(also n/nw/sw/south), not sure of parking on other side of lake. the water color in the ocean is often clear blue and beautiful and it can be calm enough without waves(other times waves). singer island just to the north can access(phil foster park) clear water coming in the inlet to peanut island and the bottom is a mix of deeper channels and much shallow white sandbars mixed in and island to sail to, there are strong currents at times/places so you have figure when it helps and avoid it if too much the wrong way, awesome when it flows hard into the wind though!! we sail beachside singer island at ocean reef park. palm beach island has expensive parking($1 per 15 minutes) unless on a sidestreet.. boynton inlet has free parking in the park.. probably a few other spots, especially intracoastal waterway that are accessible but i don't know the specifics.

what type of sailing do you like and how is your skill level? we have incredible wave sailing at times, and just fun wavesailing often, for flatwater there is a large crew of sailors a bit north at stuart causeway(or nearby if winds are certain directions).. there will be a sailor or two or more scattered almost any/everywhere along the coast here, so you should find some local help. further south there are popular spots too, most notably virginia key.. i am just north of you in jupiter area, plenty good spots up here Wink but mostly ocean(loxahatchee river sailing excepted) . Best wishes, john in jupiter
