The board is a BIC PRESTO 122L OF 1992-96 ERA. ITS 280X 58

saying anymore would be excess verbiage.
Those who follow some of my musings will recall I have a vertigo disorder, which has made a reappearance for a month, so my sailing for the season is fini. I will rebound like a red rubber ball for next spring !!

I plan to take this thruster conversion to Maine in'13, (RADAR, its a thruster )!!

We have plans to teach my 8YO neighbor Sarah to sail, she went along with me on my longboard, and luved it, so the world needs another female freestyler , she seems part octopus and part barracuda ! Plans are to start on the longboard then Formula and transition to this contraption.

The side fins are set in in ProBox boxes, they are 17" to leading edge from the tail, a little less than using the leading edge forward foot strap screw aligned with the box center...whew ...

initial planned fins will be asymmetrical , toe- in is 2degrees.

side fins will be something like 13cm+ 0r - a little and the center trim box will be the same size aka THRUSTER set up. The ProBox do have some movement so a 2+1 arrangement is feasible, but I have only 1 other trim box, so keep it for now for a single fin operation.

Photos: its for a girl, my artistic inside took over for the butterfly , needed new pads on rear, and option was 2 sets at $!! bucks or a entryway mat from Home Depot in suitable motif..

whale tale on bottom, Chinese symbol means SERENITY, becoming a fixture on my boards.

last photo shows size of original Fin Works FS Pro fin, using the fin case as size representation. The fin looks sweet !

This had a gobs of anti skid, product unknown but probably ReDEK, due to the smaller roller line marks, it was quite yellow, and I removed quite a lot. It has been re furbished with the GOOP Anti Skid clear spray version, she how it NON yellows !!

Thanks to Larsons in Denver, Ezzy sails, ProBox , and Tabou footstraps.

My first question would be why??? The Bic Presto was my first shortboard (many years ago). It is a bouncy, flat riding slalom style board. So why would you put thrusters on it???

My initial thought process was to reduce the fin length depths of 31cm to 13cm.

I feel that I can say with a fair degree of confidence that the basic nature will remain the same. Its possible that having 3 small fins will enhance the turns,. or not

It may be like one of those go fast rear wing spoilers on a POS econo box.

Being most kind here ; you have missed the point of the conversion,
its rather like : therapy

Yes I noted that the board is rather dated.

You are unquestionably deranged. Of course, I knew that the moment
we met ;*). And that is unquestionably the best looking Presto, I've ever
seen. You have a really artistic flare, and a penchant for detail work as
well. A rare combination. maybe you should rent yourself out to some
of the bigger companies as a customizer. I think something soulful
in the sport was lost, when custom graphics (and designs) fell out
of favor.

it must be the combo of steroids
they have me on for a month and the high mountain aire !

The Exocet Quad you saw has been sold with delivery in April to OBX. It was/is a brilliant board ideally suited to HR, field tested in HR and Hatteras by the EAST Coast seniors, I would have liked Keith Teboul to try it at Dougs, but a slight conflict of interest..
I so want too try the Naish Hybrid again in trailer tri fin, so it will go to OBX as well,& if I can squeeze in the PRESTO it will tag along.

I suppose I owe you a brew for the inspirational comments ?

Cheers

U2U2U2,

Congratulations on another successful project. I'm thinking that Sarah will be super stoked with the butterfly and whale tail graphics. I seriously doubt that she'll have an grief with the fact that the Presto is better than twice her age. What a wonderful gift. I wouldn't be surprised if she passes on the longboard and formula board and goes straight for the customized Presto.

Hey, best of luck kicking the vertigo condition. I'd like to see you on the water next season in the Delta.

She'll be able to ride it after 10 days on the water.
Beachstarting in 8" of water.
Enough fin area, you can forget the centerboard idea forever.

Nope, but I hope to catch up to you again sometime in The Hood.
The beer will be on me. My best wishes for your continued recovery.
