At one time those who decided to go to war lead the charge.
A LOT fewer people died in that system

c President Eisenhower was a controveserisl figure. Those on the far right thought he was a communist plant and was trying to destroy the country. They wanted to try him for treason and have him hung.

d. perhaps it was his policies that finally got us out of the great depression, i.e. taxing the wealthiest at 90+% ?????????????????

bullshit, it happened here in our country and it did'nt destroy us, nor did it destroy France or England. I'm not advocating such extreme measures. Just pointing out that raising taxes on the wealthiest just might help, seeing as to how they are the ones who bennefit most from these wars we fight for their benefit. Oil's dirt cheap now right? Was'nt oil supposed to have paid for the Iraq war? I seem to remember something about that? Now we are on the hook for at least a few trillion$, some say $4,000,000,000,000.

Were not the 50's and 60's not the greatest period of economic expansion this country has seen?

Google it, read a couple of hundred thousand pages about it, and prove my comment is wrong.
Then see if I care. If the world's scholars aren't in full agreement, do you think you and I can resolve the issue?

The Iraq war was not for oil. Don't ask me what Bush was doing there. That was a left wing talking point.

Iso, demographics and productivity gains were just as important as technological developements spurned on by the war machine. It wasn't WW2 specifically. I suppose all the Drone and information technology being developed today might make for a better future......for a police state, but I'd rather not be at war for decades at a time.

As for tax rates, investors can move their money. We are in a different and more productive world with vastly more expensive regulations than the 50s. We cannot raise rates to those levels or the movers and shakers would just move. Check out Jimmy Rogers.

You DO know, I presume, that even a 100% tax on the wealthy would not make a dent in the debt.

Mike spits in your face, then claims innocence, challenges you to prove it. If you do, he already announces he won't care.

slinky, Mike's not worth your time.
