Bard, slinky and Dane don't like either political party.
Dane and slinky esp think the GOP is a mess that has abandoned conservatives.
In case anyone out there gets confused when we are
slamming some $$))$$ holes.

Thanks key, I am new here and do get a bit confused at times. I get the feeling many here feel the same way i do, that our country has lost it's way, and no longer represents the people but only the elite, and it's hurting us all.

Congress's 10% approval rating tells it all.

Mac, what about the lives saved by weapons. I've posted a number of stories of women who shot intruders this year. I am of the opinion that we do need age restrictions on weapons. We do need better firearms and mental health testing. Background checks yes.

CB, I didn't mention welfare, however there are a large number of people who just aren't working today. Maybe their parents are taking care of them? Maybe they are under the radar (ie drug dealers, prostitutes, handymen etcetera). This is bad for society.

Slinky and KC, and others here have some crossover, so it would probably be easy to agree on many things....and disagree on some.

Bard--be clear on the statistics. Certainly some lives are saved by owning guns--but I have heard claims that you are 4, or 12, times as likely to have a family member killed by a gun than an intruder. The NRA got the Republicans to pass a law that prevented collection of data so we would really know.

So I am in favor of a level of liberty that allows a homeowner to make the decision to have a weapon in the home, even if it makes it less safe than a home without a weapon. But I want it registered, and to make it more difficult for him or her to sell it to a criminal with no background check. It doesn't sound like we are that far apart.

mac, I'm with you 100% Registration, background checks, maybe some sort of test for competancy, mental stability. Everyone should have the right to defend themselves. A ban on guns won't happen. They are too easy for anyone to get their hand on though.

We are not too far off on this. California already has pretty strict laws.

On the front of this house, a sign read: "premises protected by Smith and Wesson Security".

Ironic. But, I still would not put a sign on my lawn that read. "This home is not protected by any guns".

He blew them away with an assault rifle at the same time the NRA was having those nationwide parades showing how safe it is to have a heavily armed household.
It was a two bit dispute with his MOM. My best friend tried to stab her mom over tight jeans restriction and her brother grabbed it after her moms sweater got cut.
Made her take counseling for a year.
Too bad she didn't have an assault rifle handy.
