In the minds of the hopelessly bigoted, this is an important shooting because it was perpetrated by someone of Afghan heritage. In the minds of those allergic to information, it has nothing to do with the ready availability of guns. Not so. Last year there were 372 mass shootings. From PBS:
Quote: | Mass shootings in the United States drew an enormous amount of attention in 2015. In early December, the NewsHour plotted the locations of these shootings in a map, using data from the Mass Shooting Tracker. This post was widely shared across social media.
According to the Tracker’s data, which defines a mass shooting as an incident in which at least four people are killed or wounded, there were 372 mass shootings in the U.S. in 2015, killing 475 and wounding 1,870.
Elected officials and political candidates took to different platforms — from Twitter to TV interviews to the Senate floor — to express their thoughts and feelings following the incidents.
President Barack Obama, who has frequently had to take on the role of consoler in chief, sang “Amazing Grace” at the funeral service for Rev. Clementa Pinckney, one of nine people killed in a church shooting in Charleston, South Carolina, in June. Watch an excerpt of that in the video above.
President Obama is expected to take executive action next week to expand background checks on gun sales, according to an individual whose gun control advocacy group has been briefed by administration officials about the timing, the Associated Press reports.

It seems painfully obvious that some, or should I say "all" people are fixated on attaching some sort of blame on races, sexual orientations, religious affiliations, social status, wealth, and most certainly ideological and political groups in order to justify their bigotry. |

Wow, can this thread go any farther out into LEFT field?
So now it's the fault of the Christians that are to blame for the rise of ISIS, and the terrorist massacres. And you all still want to talk about bigotry.
I guess you all don't realize how hypocritical you sound. |

NP--I am intolerant of intolerance and bigotry. Pretty antagonistic to Republicans who are so afraid of the NRA that they won't do anything about access to guns for those with mental stability issues. Active discrimination against gays is viral in the South. |

sad that in this country the only way a gay can survive is wearing bullet proof vests and be armed.
Again it is always the right wing that has this hate that forces this. _________________ when good people stay silent the right wing are the only ones heard. |

soon we will find FBI reporting they were not able to put manpower on him because so many agents are dealing with what the right wing demanded, the hillary emails. _________________ when good people stay silent the right wing are the only ones heard. |

who said that, but the threat to them is right wingers. As I have noted one of my best friends from grade school brother was murdered by a right wing idiot. Just because he was gay. No words exchanged the right winger just came up and killed him as he walked out of a gay bar. Gee in Florida. _________________ when good people stay silent the right wing are the only ones heard. |
