Maybe the focus should be on driver training instead of gun laws, if you want to save lives.

Far more lives than either of those would be saved by putting an end to smoking OR sleep deprivation OR prolonged sitting OR self-inflicted obesity (junk food) OR hospital errors OR inactivity, to name just a few habits that EACH kill us by the scores to hundreds of thousands each year in the U.S. alone. We could quibble over decimal points, but that doesn't change the bottom line: most deaths in the civilized world are caused to a great extent by bad, usually even stupid, habits.

What's most likely to replace that as the biggest killer? Many experts say it is an EMP or cyber attack that takes down the U.S. power grid. Why? Because it's so simple and millions of jihadis would love to see it. The Dept of Homeland Security reportedly claims that North Korea has the ability and hardware -- maybe even already in orbit -- to detonate an EMP over our heartland at will. As you know, the U.S. death toll from that has been estimated to be in the hundreds of millions. Simpler, more localized, suitcase-sized, non-explosive, highly effective, commercially available IEMI devices are malicious in nature and are used for terrorist or criminal purposes.

Again your conclusions defy any rational thinking. In fact they show a severe lack of ability to critically think to solve problems.

with your so called il logic of false equivalency you say that eating junk food is equivalent to gun violence in your mind. I am not afraid or concerned with someone throwing a fruit loop at me. If someone wants to kite and increase the chances of death vs windsurf that is their choice. where there is a bit of an analogy that almost fits is when kiters decide to set up upwind from a windsurfer when they could have set up downwind.

And yes society should be working on how to stop fruit loops from hitting the shelves.

Baja, slow down. Read my quote and then Iso's first sentence. You said:

You may want to refocus the "critically think" point.

Do you need a "concealed carry" permit or license for one of these?

That is one bad mofo. Real men use bows and arrows. Kind of makes a gun like a cheap toy. Muskets and bows for everyone!

Anderson definitely has impeccable talent and speed. Matched with an incredibly trained eye, the guy clearly excels in a long lost art of battle and war.

The narrative favored by folks like Mike Fick and the NRA vp is that the world needs more armed good guys to counter armed bad guys. This misconception can only survive where people pay no attention to the facts. My dad knew, 60 years ago, that guns in the house kill people that live in the house. Recent analysis confirms that.

John J. Donohue, professor of Law at Stanford, has researched recent trends in states adopting right-to-carry laws. On the average, violent crime rates were 4 to 18 percent higher than if they had not allowed such gun carrying.

Many here familiar with arms have noted that the level of training required of law enforcement and gun owners is dramatically different, and accounts for some of the hazards of gun ownership by the poorly trained. But the reality is even more stark. Each year about 80 individuals are killed during home invasion robberies. With the US population about 320 million, you can do the math. In contrast, about 1,000 accidental deaths occur each year and many times that in suicides. Even worse, the substantial number of home burglaries means that many of the 300 million privately owned guns end up in the hands of criminals.

Ninety percent of American's want mandatory background checks. Other reasonable regulation, like the disabling of guns if stolen, are well within our technology, and consistent with the Supreme Court decision. Gun manufacturers and the 10% hold the rest of us hostage.

And yet the city with the strictest gun laws has an incredibly bloody holiday weekend.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chicago
10 killed, 54 wounded in weekend violence
A 7-year-old boy was among the shootings over the Fourth of July weekend that left 10 people dead and 54 wounded. Shootings last year, left 82 people shot, 16 fatally. This year's violence happened over a slightly longer period of time.
