Your wife in administration probably knows this....Medicare reimbursement to family practice, internal medicine and other primary care (time based rather than procedure based) providers has been poor for a long time. And, Medicare does things like withhold payment for months some times. I know of a couple docs that had too high a percentage of Medicare that went bankrupt.

So, most Docs I know limit the number of Medicare patients in their practices, and have since the late nineties when the Congress and Clinton enacted across the board cuts that each year have been delayed. The result has been to avoid the risk of carrying too big a Medicare patient load.

I do not see the ACA making much difference either way on this. More Medicare patients each year does not help with this. The thing that may help is if efficiencies are realized. On a positive note, the ACA does reward primary care and internal medicine a bit better. But, confidence is low.

techno900, I'm sure that the ACA isn't an exact carbon copy of the Heritage Foundation's healthcare plan, but I think that it's safe to say that the ACA is closely modeled to it. Certainly the ACA is a far cry from a single payer type plan initially conceived by the Obama Administration, or with Medicare as it's currently set up. The fact that the ACA is structured on private insurance companies, private medical facilities and private doctors/medical staff leaves no doubt that capitalism and free enterprise are at the root of the law.

What is ready getting under the skin of those on the right is the government mandate to buy insurance, and the plan to financially assist lower income citizens with the cost of health insurance. Also, it can be said that some folks don't like the idea of some employers being responsible for providing a health insurance benefit to their employees. But, you have to admit, there has been ample history of these kinds of benefits being offered in the course of private business which has had no foundation in government requirements.

Despite all the angst from the right about the ACA, a mandate and financial assistance features where both a integral part of the Heritage Foundation's plan. I've read the plan in the past, and those are the facts. All the BS about socialism and government run healthcare being barked by the right is simply nonsense designed to fool dimwitted people.

Techno
, Factcheck is good on this.
Those folks are being treated at emergency rooms at tax expense right now.
The GOP is pretending that those folks are not getting care and just dying outside doctors offices and we should allow that to continue so we don't overload the system.

I researched the Heritage program and followed it through the Bush years.
Two GOP Congressmen proposed the ACA but were forced by the leadership to vote against their own bill because of lobby money.
Same as now.
Romney picked it up. It would have been amazing if the GOP had implemented A healthcare reform so similar to Ocare unless they had the same source.
They did.
I always felt that if they succeeded in trashing health reform, the GOP would simply propose the same thing the next day and point out that conservatives wrote it.
There seems no other possible way that the GOP is going to allow Americans to have health reform.
As long as Obama didn't support it, the real problem would be solved.

Inventing stupid and disturbed opinions for others part 73.
Ovepwr is still streaming silly opinions that none of us believe, but in his world it is important that someone somewhere believe this so he can tell them they are wrong.
Half God? No offense but the person who thought that up needs health ins. to pay for mental health counseling.
I think he is serious about the hate part. I hope he isn't so far gone that he hurts himself or others.

Keycocker, I could care less if anyone believe what I say, but you should at least "question" what you see. I didn't produced none of those videos, I just present them to whoever want to look at them. And I am sorry to tell you, but it sounds like you are the one in need of treatment here, it is just a shame that we are the one's who will be paying for it.

The part you are too ill to see is that we all have been questioning the government for a very long time.
In order to castigate us you have to ignore those who are repeatedly pointing this out.
That Half God thing came from a disturbed mind,my brother.

One sick cookie--proud to hate. And nearly completely uninformed. But nasty comments about lots of folks. I don't read mr rr chastising him--must be because he is a conservative.

I see RR go after things he finds BS on all sides. The sharp talk between Mac and him is regrettable.
I dont think ovrpwr is necessarily a conservative. He seems like a young guy full of outrage at the gov.over issues he can't fully understand.
There is lots to be outraged about too.
He seems to be taking the easy way out by researching in his mind instead of in the real world.
Soon you are surrounded by ignorant folks who slavishly adore the Gov .and giant rabbits who think Obama is god.
I did this in my youth. A lot easier than actually reading the ACA or understanding other folks actual opinions.

And, WTF is wrong with government employed physicians?

EVERYTHING!!! I could list and describe dozens of medical nightmares which took me many pages to summarize in the appropriate forums. They range from ignoring my clearly indicated cancer as it went from curable to incurable to keeping an entire recovery ward awake all night because they wanted to party in the halls. Those 30+ nightmares were admitted by my UNIVERSITY surgeons, whose only power to mitigate them was to transfer me to an unauthorized private ward and issue strict orders to leave me the F alone instead of waking me up deliberately every 20-30 minutes to see how I was doing.

And that was just one single VA patient who has been asked by several medical providers what my medical specialty is.

That's not even an H2O molecule on a bump on the tip of a gargantuan iceberg, yet that iceberg is one of Obama's prime examples of government-run, taxpayer funded medical care ... the definition of socialized medicine.

Let me make this as clear as I can through my dense post-op narcotic fog: YOU WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH THE VA SYSTEM. Plenty of its personnel are fine, I presume, but do you want to bet your life on getting several of the good ones?

I did, I lost, and judging from several medical forums, I am fairly typical. One prostate cancer patient now has several assholes because the new ones the VA tried to fashion for him after they botched his routine radiation treatment keep failing. When he walks in and drops trou, his bladder is visible. No, NOT his external urine collection bag ... his GD, God-given BLADDER, the one he was born with.

I haven't even informed the VA of my latest injury or surgery. When I can play rugby competitively again, I'll tell them just so it's in their records ... which I will bet they will lose again.

BTW, I've never played rugby.

Just think; many of you and most of your kids potentially face that level of medical care, and you don't even have to serve your country in peace or war to get it. It will be forced upon you by your government largely because your congressmen voted it upon YOU while exempting themselves from it.

Yet you don't learn a damned thing.
