From the right, so make your own judgment. http://spectator.org/articles/58809/obamacare-working

Quote:
Last Thursday, the president announced the Obamacare debate over for the second time this month. The pretext for his repetition of this talking point was yet another implausible claim concerning the number of people his health care law has helped gain coverage. He offered this new total, 8 million, as proof that further resistance to “reform” is futile: “The repeal debate is and should be over…The Affordable Care Act is working.” If you feel that President Obama is protesting a bit too much, you are not alone. Public opinion surveys consistently show that most Americans still oppose Obamacare.

Moreover, a growing number of Americans believe the president to be a habitual liar. According to a new Fox News poll, “Thirty-seven percent think Obama lies ‘most of the time,’ while another 24 percent say he lies ‘some of the time.’” Only 15 percent believe that our president tells the truth all of the time. Unfortunately for the health of the republic, this tiny minority evidently includes the reporters of the legacy news media. Consequently, the brief MSM Spring that followed the Healthcare.gov debacle is over, and journalists are once again parroting White House talking points.

A case in point is the president’s claim that Obamacare is working. If you Google those three words, in quotes, you will get about a million hits. And these search results are not about the president’s news conference. Most are opinion pieces in high profile publications, posts at major blogs, and even broadcast news segments purporting to prove that Obama’s “signature domestic achievement” is a success. It goes without saying, of course, that the evidence offered by the purveyors of this nonsense has little or nothing to do with the ostensible purpose of the “Affordable Care Act.”

Hey Technoo....if we polled a group of people that votes Democrat 88% of the time, and asked if George W Bush was a liar, what do you think the result would be? The President is right, there won't be a repeal of OCare..I think it will be a huge mistake for Rethugs to run on this topic again, so I expect many will.

Techno--So this guy is a MBA business revenue consultant for the for-profit hospital industry, and hates Obama. He does a lot of name-calling, but I didn't see a coherent argument backed by facts. Indeed, if the cost-control aspects of the law work, his clients will have their shoes squeezed. Tell me why I should take anything he says seriously?

"The American Spectator is the one magazine I always pull out of my mail pile. Get two copies. Send the extra one to your kids or grandkids. The Spectator will teach them what conservatism is, and they'll have fun reading it."

- Sean Hannity

"Fox News fights liberal bias on TV against the likes of MSNBC and CNN. Help combat the liberal media bias in print publications like Mother Jones and The New Republic by supporting The Spectator today."

When I open techno900's link, the above tops up almost immediately asking for support. Moving beyond that, the writer rambles on getting to his ultimate point.

"In our country, the Fourth Estate has become a fifth column dedicated to undermining anything or anyone opposed to the liberal agenda. Thus, no matter how preposterous the president’s claims, the press will repeat them as if they were facts uncovered by hard-hitting investigative journalists."

It one of those "don't believe them, just believe what we have to say" articles you can expect from the right wing. More whining about President Obama and those dogs in the MSM that give him positive energy.

techno900, are these guys giving you what you need?

I think the GOP is terrified. Interesting article by Tim Dickinson, titled "Obamacare: It's Working." Link here:http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/obamacare-its-working-20140409

A few key facts

1. Support is growing, not opposition. 54% either approve of the law, or want it to go farther.

2. In addition to the 7 million who went through the exchanges (and 80-95% have paid their bills), another 9 million bought insurance without going through the exchanges.

3. Growth in health care costs has dropped to 1.3% since the bill passed. Costs are down 15% from the CBO projections.

4. Legal restrictions in red states has reduced registration--but that may end up costing the GOP votes as the poor see much better health care in places like California--which signed up close to 1/3 of the eligible, while Texas is at 1 in ten.

5. Fighting the expansion of Medicaid costs jobs. A study in South Carolina found that Medicaid expansion would have brought more than $11 billion into the state, and resulted in 44,000 new jobs--plus increasing tax revenues.

There's lots more, but I'll close with this quote:

Quote:
"It's been a winding road," says Larry Levitt, a senior vice president at the nonpartisan Kaiser Family Foundation, "but Obamacare is actually working as expected."

What, no response from the wing nuts about good news about the ACA? No factual rebuttals? No facts?

The best line in the article was the quote from Kasich about meeting with St. Peter. Here's the line from another source:

Quote:
Governor John Kasich, a Republican, repeated his insistence that God wants Ohio to expand Medicaid when reporters brought up the topic on June 18. Kasich suggested anyone who opposes Medicaid expansion will have to answer for their opposition when they die.

Gov. Kasich said he recently told a state legislator, “I respect the fact that you believe in small government. I do too. I also happen to know that you’re a person of faith.”

“Now, when you die and get to the, get to the, uh, to the meeting with St. Peter, he’s probably not gonna ask you much about what you did about keeping government small, but he’s going to ask you what you did for the poor,” Kasich said. “Better have a good answer.”

Funny how the so-called Christians have forgotten about this aspect of Christianity.

Please somebody respond.
OK, hell, I'll do it, WTF.

"1. Support is growing, not opposition. 54% either approve of the law, or want it to go farther."

According to who? Stanley Greenberg, a top Democratic pollster? Okaaaay.

"2. In addition to the 7 million who went through the exchanges (and 80-95% have paid their bills), another 9 million bought insurance without going through the exchanges."

According to who? Definitely not the administration, why's that?

"3. Growth in health care costs has dropped to 1.3% since the bill passed. Costs are down 15% from the CBO projections."

Two things, many doctors are now offering 10 to 20% discounts if you pay for services that day, check or cash only. They are trying incentives to keep the people coming in, many aren't now days with the Med. Ins. confusion going on (the second reason). It's happened to me twice w/in the last year, once with my dermo. for annual check up, first time ever discount, and once taking my daughter into a Med Center for an ear infection, another discount, if I pay cash or check, surprised again.

"4. Legal restrictions in red states has reduced registration--but that may end up costing the GOP votes as the poor see much better health care in places like California--which signed up close to 1/3 of the eligible, while Texas is at 1 in ten."

Don't really know that yet, just guessing.

"5. Fighting the expansion of Medicaid costs jobs. A study in South Carolina found that Medicaid expansion would have brought more than $11 billion into the state, and resulted in 44,000 new jobs--plus increasing tax revenues."

Those are government administrative jobs that will be funded by the taxpayer, we already have enough medical staff to handle our public.
Any job funded by the taxpayer is not really a gain to our economy.
And the taxes they pay, won't cover their costs.

Because you ended your little essay with a quote, I will too, from the same source that you used to construct this thing.

"The disastrous launch of the $319 million healthcare.gov last October will remain a black eye for the Obama administration. "This has been really wounding," says a former administration official. "We've been engaged in a 50-year war on the role of government. Please do not help the other side!""

http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/obamacare-its-working-20140409

A "war on the role of government", from the Rolling Stone, this is why I will never accept this as a credible source on anything politics, this is where they jump the shark.
They should just fucking stick with music, take their socialistic view, and blow it out their ass.

Every now and then I like to go over to the SeaBreeze forum to see what's happening down under.
I came across this innocent looking thread about a hernia that somebody got. After reading thru the thread, it seemed I was reading about Obamacare in the future. Sure Obamacare and healthcare in Oz aren't exactly the same, but I get the feeling they will have more in common than different.
Check it out.
