Anyone have experience with good straps for very small feet with high instep and arch? Currently I ride a 109 l JP freestyle or 84 l JP FSW. When sailing barefoot the JP straps are on the smallest setting, the straps are near the end of life and I am looking for replacements. I am an intermediate sailor hitting some planing jibes, proficient in chop hop and beginning to freestyle.

Most people take the straps covers off and cut the webbing smaller, so it is a smaller hoop when closed.
Some also use bigger washers, up to 1" in diameter, to shorten the distance between the strap holes. |

Great straps. They come stock with Open Oceans. Simple to adjust and comfy. I'm surprised the name hasn't ever come up on previous footstrap threads. _________________ The Time a Person Spends Windsurfing is not Deducted from their Lifespan...

Because most of them fixate on which one we enter first. |

I have size 8 feet with very high insteps and arches, but I my feet are quite wide (E width). I have to agree that Chinooks are quite good, but so are the DaKine and Windsurfing Hawaii brands. However, I don't know if WHs are still available. Overall though, I will say this, all my boards are set up with 2 screws per side on the footstraps, so strap twist is non-existent. If you're relying on single screw per side attachments, and potentially use manufacturer designed anti-twist components, you need to discern whether your existing scenario will work as well with newer aftermarket straps.
Another thing you might want to think about is whether you share your board with others. Although I've never had them, there are a number of brands offering contoured straps which aren't adjustable, but can be better sized for just your feet. |
