Cabrillo was light on Saturday - planing 75% of the time with an 8.8 and 134 L board. Sunday was much better, though the wind line was a long way from the beach. 8.0 and 105 L board was perfect for my 190 lbs. I think Ron was using a 5.8. |

Sunday was good. 7.5 with a 125 and small fin. Overpowered at times..
Was best from about 1:30 to 4.
Only on the outside. People on the inside were not sailing as the wind was further out as already noted..
I would expect today monday also to be good.. |

7.0/125L at Leo on Sunday from about 3:00 on. Nice warm, flat water with the occasional 2ft wave. |

Got to cabrillo yesterday around 1 and thought I was too early. Around 2 it BLEW on the inside for a good 40 minutes. I was pleased since it was the first time I was able to plan for awhile for the whole week .
Now having a hard time deciding if I want to go today. Forecast looks ok but with no wind meter I'm hesitate.
I was thinking maybe we all can pitch in and get a new sensor from weatherflow ...and calibrate it to where its "accurate" |

It seems that when Pier J goes over 17 than Cabrillo will be windy |

KevinDo: By "accurate" I'm assuming you're implying the previous sensor was not? Where exactly would you put one?
Here's the thing-- I know Jim Martin well, and I helped him set up the current Leo sensor. You need power & data to have a sensor, and that limits where it can go. Virtually every iWindsurf sensor has to be learned, that is learn how to tell the difference between where the sensor is and where you'll be sailing. Jim told me once that he could have a sensor on a buoy right where people sail and they would STILL complain it was off! He was proven correct recently when someone told me they thought the Marker 14 sensor up in the Delta was off, and it's on a short tower in the middle of the river, you can jibe around it!
Wind speed = sensor RPM = data, the sensors don't lie. It might be possible with today's technology to put a wireless solar-powered sensor right where you're going to sail, I'm not sure, but the marine enviroment is hell on electronics so it probably wouldn't work long. Besides, what are you going to mount it to? _________________ Spennie the Wind Junkie
